The Opportunity
An opening for a Field Service Technical Representative (FSTR) within the C-17 Field Engineering and Technical Support (FETS) team is now available. The C-17 FETS team is a multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical personnel whose charter is to provide rapid and safe post-production/sustainment technical support to the RAAF and International customers as global fleet partners.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in resolving complex operational problems that require a high level of ingenuity, innovation, and coordination;
  • Provide accurate and timely maintenance advice, end-user troubleshooting & repair guidance;
  • Provide assistance with the interpretation of technical documents to ensure the intent and purpose of the documentation is understood and followed;
  • Provide specialised on-the-job training by explaining theory of operations and demonstrating basic operating, maintenance, servicing procedures, and troubleshooting techniques;
  • Investigate and pursue courses of action necessary to safely support the customer's mission including assistance with spares supply and support equipment;
  • Document field site activities by preparing and transmitting publication change requests, continuous process improvement data, and reports to provide status of product/end-user issues and developments

Experience/Qualifications
  • A strong background in the operation and maintenance of C-17 electrical, avionics, communication systems, structure, hydro-mechanical, propulsion and mission systems.
  • Prior field experience in troubleshooting complex integrated systems, within an operational environment.
  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics or Mechanical) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated high level understanding of aircraft maintenance regulatory environment (military and civilian).
  • The ability and willingness to travel to other operating locations, including overseas, to assist with operation, maintenance, and recovery of aircraft.
  • The ability to work independently under time constraints.
  • Australian citizenship and eligibility to hold an Australian Department of Defence security clearance - Negative Vetting 1
