Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms.

Job Overview

Saronic Technologies is looking to hire a CAD Librarian to help with both their electrical and mechanical engineering teams. The company is scaling rapidly across engineering, manufacturing, and software, and this role sits at the intersection of electrical and mechanical design data — keeping the component libraries that Saronic engineers depend on accurate, complete, and current.
The CAD Librarian is responsible for interpreting component data sheets submitted by engineers and accurately entering part data, attributes, and metadata into Saronic ECAD and MCAD environments. This is a detail-oriented, process-driven role that supports both the electrical and mechanical engineering teams. The CAD Admin will define the standards and workflows the Librarian follows via documented processes — this person’s job is to execute those processes with precision and ownership.
Day-to-day responsibilities include receiving component requests from engineers, locating and interpreting the associated data sheets, and ensuring all relevant attributes are correctly entered into the appropriate tool. For electrical components this includes ratings, voltage ranges, connector types, associated backshells, Inserted terminals, crimping info for manufacturing and other components attributes and footprints,. For mechanical components this includes dimensions, material properties, thread specifications, and tolerancing. The Librarian will also field follow-up questions from engineers when data sheet information is unclear or inconsistent, and flag discrepancies for resolution.
This person will work closely with the ECAD Administrator and MCAD Administrator and will be expected to maintain consistent, auditable records of all library additions and modifications.
Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience in drafting, electrical design, or engineering support.

  • 2+ years of experience as a drafter, designer, or in a CAD support role.

  • Hands-on experience with at least one CAD tool — electrical or mechanical.

  • Ability to read and interpret component data sheets.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

  • Austin, TX on-site required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

This is primarily an attitude and work ethic hire at the base qualification level. Candidates who demonstrate genuine ownership of their work, curiosity about the tools and components they’re working with, and a willingness to fully commit to the librarian function — rather than treating it as a steppingstone — are the target profile. Growth path from this role is into a draftsman position, electrical or mechanical, as the company scales.

If this role is based in the United States, it requires access to export-controlled information or items that require “U.S. Person” status. As defined by U.S. law, individuals who are any one of the following are considered to be a “U.S. Person”: (1) U.S. citizens, (2) legal permanent residents (a.k.a. green card holders), and (3) certain protected classes of asylees and refugees, as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
