About the Role
Reporting to the Manager–Airworthiness, the Certification Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and execution of aircraft certification processes. This role ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements by identifying regulatory requirements, preparing certification and conformity plans, and collaborating with internal and external teams to deliver certifiable solutions. The Certification Engineer will work closely with product development teams, provide technical direction, and contribute to the creation and improvement of certification procedures.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Design Engineering, Flight Test Engineering, and Quality, to define certification requirements for aircraft materials, structures, and systems
- Support FAA type certification projects by preparing certification and conformity inspection plans, compliance checklists, and issue paper responses
- Participate in product design reviews and provide technical guidance related to certification strategy and deliverables
- Interface directly with aviation authorities and designees as part of conformity management, compliance documentation submittals, and milestone meetings
- Coordinate and consult with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DER), Designated Airworthiness Representatives (DAR), and technical specialists
- Ensure the quality and completeness of certification and continued airworthiness deliverables to regulatory agencies
- Support continued operational safety, including non-compliance resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
- Assist in the creation and evolution of Airworthiness processes
- Promote awareness of certification procedures and requirements to cross-functional teams
- Support continuous improvement programs to foster an organizational culture of airworthiness compliance
Who You Are
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field
Experience
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in aircraft certification, with demonstrable understanding of FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 23/25/27/29)
- Working knowledge of FAA policy, guidance, and standards related to aircraft certification and continued airworthiness
- Proven track record with FAA type certification, including regulator interface, conformity inspection, compliance documentation, and issue resolution
- Familiarity with international Civil Aviation Authority validation procedures (EASA, TCCA, ANAC, etc.)
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with and attention to detail and a collaborative mindset

Where You’ll Be
This role will be remote with 25% travel until mid-2026, at which time it will transition to fully onsite in Jacksonville, FL.
