Chief Information & Technology Officer

Location: Remote (U.S.) with travel to Conduent offices and client locations as required
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Direct Reports: Senior leaders across Infrastructure & Operations, Enterprise Applications, Engineering & Development, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Data & AI, Service Management, Technology PMO, and Workforce Planning

Position Summary

The Chief Information & Technology Officer (CITO) is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and serves as the senior executive responsible for Conduent's global technology strategy, operations, engineering, digital innovation, cybersecurity partnership, and enterprise technology transformation.

The CITO will lead the development and execution of a multi-year technology vision that simplifies the technology landscape, modernizes platforms, improves operational efficiency, enhances resilience and security, and enables growth across Conduent's business segments. This executive will partner closely with business leaders to align technology investments with strategic priorities while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will bring a balance of strategic leadership, large-scale technology operations experience, client-facing credibility, and a proven record of delivering business outcomes through technology transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Technology Strategy

  • Define and execute the company's long-term technology vision and roadmap.
  • Align technology investments with business objectives, growth strategies, and client needs.
  • Drive enterprise-wide modernization initiatives across applications, infrastructure, cloud, data, platforms, and digital services.
  • Establish technology governance, standards, architecture principles, and operating models.

Technology Transformation & Innovation

  • Lead enterprise transformation programs focused on modernization, automation, AI, and digital enablement.
  • Identify emerging technologies that create business value and competitive advantage.
  • Champion innovation while balancing operational stability, risk management, and cost optimization.
  • Partner with product, operations, and commercial leadership to develop technology-enabled solutions for clients.

Technology Operations & Delivery

  • Oversee global technology operations, infrastructure, cloud services, service management, and enterprise applications.
  • Ensure reliable, resilient, scalable, and efficient technology services supporting associates and clients worldwide.
  • Drive service excellence through measurable operational performance and continuous improvement.
  • Establish technology delivery practices that improve speed, quality, and business impact.

Data, Analytics & Artificial Intelligence

  • Establish an enterprise strategy for data, analytics, and AI.
  • Drive responsible AI adoption and governance across the organization.
  • Expand the use of analytics and automation to improve decision-making, productivity, and customer outcomes.
  • Enable a modern data ecosystem that supports operational and strategic objectives.

Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance

  • Partner closely with the Chief Information Security Officer to ensure technology solutions meet security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Embed security and resilience principles into all technology initiatives.
  • Support enterprise risk management, business continuity, and regulatory compliance requirements. 

Financial & Vendor Management 

  • Manage a significant global technology budget and investment portfolio.
  • Drive technology cost optimization while improving service quality and business outcomes.
  • Lead strategic vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and technology partnerships.
  • Establish financial governance for technology investments and transformation initiatives.

Leadership & Talent

  • Build and lead a high-performing global technology organization.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top technology talent.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Develop succession plans and leadership capabilities across the technology function.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field required.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) preferred.
  • 20+ years of progressive technology leadership experience with at least 10 years in senior executive roles.
  • Experience leading large-scale enterprise technology organizations and transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success modernizing complex technology environments, including cloud migration and application transformation.
  • Experience managing multimillion-dollar technology budgets and global teams.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, AI, data platforms, and digital technologies.
  • Proven ability to partner with boards, executive teams, and business leaders.
  • Outstanding communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within business process services, technology-enabled services, digital operations, healthcare, government, transportation, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Background leading technology organizations undergoing transformation, turnaround, or modernization initiatives.
  • Experience integrating technology strategy with commercial growth objectives and client-facing solutions.
  • Demonstrated success leveraging AI, automation, and data-driven innovation to improve business outcomes.

Pay Transparency Laws in some locations require disclosure of compensation and/or benefits-related information. For this position, actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition to base pay, this position, based on business need, may be eligible for a bonus or incentive. In addition, Conduent provides a variety of benefits to employees including health insurance coverage, voluntary dental and vision programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) or vacation and/or sick time. The estimated salary range for this role is $300,000 - $425,000.
