Overview 

The Chief of Staff is a strategy and execution partner to a senior business leader of a power company, with direct accountability for driving operating cadence, cross-functional alignment, and delivery of key initiatives. This is a hands-on, execution role that blends strategic thinking with day-to-day program management, requiring ownership of deliverables, tracking mechanisms, and executive-level communications. The role ensures that priorities are translated into actionable plans, decisions are clearly documented, and initiatives progress with discipline and accountability across teams. This is a 3-6 month contract consulting role with the potential to be temp-hire for the right candidate. This role will start as a 1099 consultant. This is a remote role and candidates may travel once a month. All qualified candidates must live and be authorized to work in the United States without requiring any visa sponsorship or transfer.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Operating Cadence

  • Drive annual and quarterly planning process, translating leadership priorities into clear initiatives, objectives, and execution plans
  • Build leadership agendas, meeting and operations cadence including preparation materials, notes, and follow-up actions
  • Coordinate and execute quarterly business reviews, strategy sessions, and offsites, including development of materials and tracking of outcomes
  • Maintain decision logs, action trackers, and ownership alignment to ensure follow-through across leadership priorities

Cross-Functional Execution & Program Management

  • Drive cross-functional initiatives spanning development, engineering, operations, and commercial teams
  • Build and maintain integrated initiative trackers (milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, owners)
  • Proactively identify bottlenecks and drive resolution plans with accountable owners and timelines

Performance Management, Reporting & Analytics

  • Partner with functional leaders to define and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and performance tracking tools
  • Produce weekly and monthly executive updates, business reviews, and leadership/board-ready materials
  • Conduct targeted analysis (portfolio prioritization, resource planning, scenario modeling) and translate findings into clear recommendations and decision frameworks

Stakeholder Alignment & Executive Communications

  • Serve as a central liaison across teams to align priorities, timelines, and deliverables
  • Coordinate cross-functional communications, ensuring consistent messaging and timely escalation of issues
  • Represent senior leadership in meetings as needed, capturing outcomes and clear execution of next steps
  • Develop executive-level communications, presentations, and briefing materials for internal and external stakeholders

Governance, Risk & Decision Support

  • Maintain decision logs, risk/issue registers, and action trackers with clear ownership and due dates
  • Ensure materials are complete, accurate, and decision-ready for leadership review

Organization Enablement & Operational Improvement

  • Support organizational scaling through operating model clarity, role definition, and onboarding coordination
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, including standardization of reporting, meeting governance, and documentation practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in leadership roles in the power, energy, or related infrastructure industries in a project/program management, strategic advising or consulting role
  • Experience supporting senior executives and driving cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed environment is required
  • Strong understanding of energy, power, or infrastructure business models and lifecycle (development through operations)
  • Proven ability to drive execution across cross-functional teams and manage complex, multi-threaded initiatives
  • Strong program management capability, including building trackers, dashboards, and structured reporting outputs
  • Strategic and analytical ability to synthesize complex inputs into clear recommendations and executive-ready materials
  • Financial and commercial acumen to support business cases, prioritization, and trade-off decisions
  • Exceptional communication skills, including drafting executive communications and facilitating senior-level discussions
  • Must be comfortable with both strategic and tactical role driving daily execution of business deliverables
  • Must be able to juggle competing priorities and adapt as necessary
  • Strong MS PowerPoint deck building and presentation skills
  • Proven knowledge of MS Excel and the ability to produce executive level reporting as needed
