Job Description

BwB is looking for a Uganda-based Climate Finance & Local Government Expert to support a potential assignment focused on strengthening local government capacity to access and manage climate finance in Uganda. 
 

Qualifications

  • A postgraduate degree in administration, organisational capacity building, management, or an equivalent field. 

  • At least 10 years of experience in public policy, local development, decentralisation, climate change, climate finance, or related fields. 

  • Demonstrated experience in Uganda and/or East Africa, with strong knowledge of Uganda’s institutional landscape for climate action and climate finance. 

  • Strong understanding of Uganda’s decentralised governance and local government system, preferably gained through experience of working with local government institutions. 

  • Strong knowledge of climate finance mechanisms, donor requirements, project preparation, and funding application processes. 

  • Experience of capacity-building work with government or other public-sector actors, including developing training materials, practical guidance, and related tools. 

  • Excellent written and spoken English. The ability to speak and write in French would be an advantage.
