HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will lead our emerging climate + resilience services, partnering with firm-wide design and technical leadership as an integral part of project teams across the firm. The primary responsibilities are listed below.
  • Lead, mentor, manage and grow our internal climate + resilience services as a subject matter expert to assist design teams across the firm to deliver healthy environment solutions and pursue prime external work as appropriate in collaboration with internal teams, including sustainability, interiors, incubate & launch, live/work/play, and health for all. 
  • Work to integrate climate + resilience strategies into the building design process across the firm. 
  • Oversee the delivery of master planning efforts related to sustainability, resilience, climate action and decarbonization. 
  • Guide delivery of visually appealing graphical representations climate + resilience strategies. 
  • Lead research into GHG emissions reduction, climate adaption, and resilient design workflows and software to improve how the firm delivers climate + resilience solutions, in collaboration with design technology, computational design, data science, consulting, research, smart buildings and innovation teams.
  • Identify new and emerging climate + resilience approaches and trends that support successful delivery of services to clients and internal programs. 
  • Lead clients in visioning sustainability, resilience, climate action and decarbonization programs at an organizational/institutional/municipal/regional scale. 
  • Be a trusted source for climate + resilience solutions for internal client leaders and teams in other sectors and market within the firm.  
  • Lead case studies, whitepapers and other materials to present findings and recommendations internally and externally. 
  • Represent the firm at external events and conferences as opportunities arise. 
  • Create narratives, approaches and fees for project proposals. 
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural, Environmental, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related field.  Masters or advanced coursework preferred.  
  • Minimum of 12 years of leading, managing and delivering climate and resilience-focused  analysis and planning at the building, campus and regional scale. 
  • One or more credential such as LEED, LFA, CPHC, WELL, BREAM, Fitwell, Green Globes, WEDG, SITES AP or similar required.  
  • PE, Registered architect/licensed architect, or NCIDQ preferred. 
  • Deep expertise in climate risk assessment and resilient design strategies. 
  • Deep experience in greenhouse gas emissions assessment and reduction strategies at the  building, campus and regional scale. 
  • Must have familiarity with building standards including LEED, LBC, WELL, etc. 
  • Must have familiarity with ESG reporting structure and guidelines relevant to corporate,  institutional and municipal client types. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills are essential.  
  • This position may require travel to other CannonDesign offices as well as client locations.  
The salary range for this position is $117,000 to $146,300 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Based on the position status, employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and a full benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage and flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances. We have paid time off, flex-time schedules, remote work options and a 401k plan and employee perk programs.
