About the Role:

The Clinician - IP plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive behavioral health services to individuals requiring structured outpatient care. This position focuses on assessing, planning, and implementing individualized treatment plans that support clients' recovery and mental wellness within an intensive outpatient setting. The clinician collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and to address the complex needs of clients through evidence-based therapeutic interventions. By providing counseling, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation, the clinician helps clients develop coping strategies and achieve measurable progress toward their treatment goals. Ultimately, this role contributes to improving clients' quality of life and facilitating their successful reintegration into the community through compassionate and professional care at Last Resort Residential in Austin.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or equivalent in the state of Texas.
  • Experience working in an Intensive Outpatient Program or similar behavioral health setting.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and mental health assessment tools.
  • Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with diverse populations including adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Training or certification in trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), or motivational interviewing.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in behavioral health settings.
  • Bilingual proficiency, particularly in Spanish, to better serve the Austin community.
  • Previous experience in residential or community-based mental health programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to determine clients' mental health status and treatment needs within the IOP framework.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the care team.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based practices tailored to client needs.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust interventions accordingly, documenting all clinical activities in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and facilitate referrals as needed.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and ongoing professional development activities.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to client crises, ensuring safety and appropriate intervention.
  • Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping mechanisms.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building therapeutic relationships with clients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The clinician applies evidence-based therapeutic techniques to facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, adapting approaches to meet diverse client backgrounds and challenges. Organizational skills are critical for maintaining detailed and compliant clinical documentation, managing caseloads, and coordinating care activities. Additionally, problem-solving and crisis intervention skills are frequently employed to address urgent client needs and ensure safety within the outpatient program setting.
