The Cloud Architect will support the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) on cloud computing and infrastructure initiatives. This role is responsible for directing the architectural aspects of a cloud brokering team across all areas of IT and the business, including planning, engineering, and implementation of cloud infrastructure and applications. The Cloud Architect will operate within a regulated, multi-cloud enterprise environment requiring expertise in data and AI platforms, vendor coordination, monitoring, and 24x7 operations. This position ensures security, compliance, and system reliability across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS cloud service models.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the architectural design and engineering of cloud computing infrastructure and applications across a multi-cloud enterprise environment.
  • Lead cloud brokering team activities spanning all aspects of IT and business operations.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring solutions using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, GCP Cloud Monitoring, and logging frameworks to track performance, reliability, and usage.
  • Configure and manage log ingestion and transformation pipelines using Logstash with integration to Azure Log Analytics for proactive monitoring and alerting.
  • Design and maintain alerting solutions using Twilio for ETL failures and operational notifications.
  • Support data pipelines, data platforms, and analytics workloads including Blob Storage, Data Lakes, and structured storage systems.
  • Manage and monitor Informatica Cloud (IICS) integrations, Secure Agents, APIs, and related integration patterns in enterprise environments.
  • Enforce IAM least-privilege principles, network security controls, audit logging, and compliance requirements in FedRAMP and regulated environments.
  • Support Tier 2 and Tier 3 issues by debugging logs, resolving platform access issues, and maintaining production environment stability.
  • Coordinate across engineering, data, infrastructure, and business teams to drive delivery of platform initiatives and resolve issues in high-pressure environments.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience with multi-cloud platform expertise, specifically Azure and GCP.
  • 8 years of experience with GenAI and enterprise AI platforms, including Gemini and Vertex AI.
  • 8 years of experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, GCP Cloud Monitoring, and logging frameworks for performance, reliability, and usage tracking.
  • 8 years of experience using Logstash for log ingestion, transformation, and integration with Azure Log Analytics for proactive monitoring and alerting.
  • 8 years of experience designing alerting solutions using Twilio (SMS/voice) for ETL failures and operational notifications.
  • 8 years of experience with Blob Storage, Data Lakes, and structured storage systems supporting analytics and AI workloads.
  • 8 years of hands-on experience supporting data pipelines, data platforms, and analytics workloads in enterprise environments.
  • 8 years of experience with Informatica Cloud (IICS), Secure Agents, APIs, and integration patterns, including monitoring and integration challenges.
  • 8 years of experience implementing IAM (least privilege), network security, audit logging, and compliance in FedRAMP or regulated environments.
  • 8 years of experience supporting Tier 2/3 issues, debugging logs, resolving platform access issues, and maintaining production stability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience building and managing Tableau Cloud environments.
  • 3 years of experience integrating ArcGIS or geospatial data systems with cloud data platforms.
  • 3 years of experience with scripting (Python, Bash) and automation including serverless and CI/CD pipelines.
  • 3 years of exposure to GKE, AKS, Docker, and microservices architectures.
  • 3 years of familiarity with data mesh, ETL/ELT architectures, API integrations, and enterprise data standards.
  • 3 years of demonstrated analytical thinking to assess platform issues, make timely architectural decisions, and drive resolution in high-pressure environments.
  • 3 years of experience taking end-to-end ownership of platform stability, reliability, and delivery while proactively identifying risks.
  • 2 years of experience translating complex technical concepts into business-friendly language and engaging with stakeholders, leadership, and end users.
  • 2 years of experience leading and coordinating across engineering, data, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure delivery of platform initiatives.

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates must already reside in Texas and be local to the Austin area (within a 50-mile radius). Candidates who are out of state and planning to relocate will not be considered.
  • Interviews will be conducted in person.
  • The worker may be required to work outside normal business hours on weekends, evenings, and holidays as requested; overtime must be coordinated and pre-approved through HHSC.
  • All travel, per diem, parking, and living expenses are the responsibility of the worker.

Work Location and Schedule

Location: 701 W. 51st St., Austin, Texas 78751

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding Texas state holidays

Work Arrangement: Hybrid; 2 days onsite (Monday and Wednesday) and 3 days remote; subject to change per the hiring team
