Position Summary

The Cloud Network Engineer plays an important essential role in the design, security and administration, scalable networks within cloud environments. The role will primarily focus on maintaining and configuring Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud networking components.

Compensation 

This role is an exempt position with a Targeted Salary Range of $109,000 to $156,000 annually.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.

Essential Functions

  • Installs and maintains cloud-based applications, systems, or associated infrastructures.
  • Responsible for Deploying and Configuring Cloud Networking Components:
    • Virtual networks
    • Routing Tables/User Defined Routes
    • Azure Firewall
    • Load balancers
    • Application Gateways
    • IPSec VPN/ExpressRoute
    • Azure Bastion
    • Azure DNS/Private Resolver
    • Network Watcher
    • Azure Front Door
    • Azure API Management
    • Network Security Groups
  • Responsible for Network Administration using Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
    • Use of IaC tools Terraform, Bicep to deploy infrastructure changes
    • Implement GitLab CI/CD pipelines for network changes
  • Troubleshooting, Support, Monitoring
    • Diagnose and resolve network issues in cloud environments.
    • Provide support for connectivity problems, latency issues, and misconfigurations.
    • Monitor network performance and availability using tools Azure Monitor, PRTG.
    • Optimize network traffic by minimizing bottlenecks, reducing latency and ensuring optimal bandwidth utilization.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with DevOps, security, application teams on new network integrations and automation.
    • Document network designs, configurations using Visio, Lucidchart for consumption.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a field directly related to the position, preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in designing, administering cloud networking components.
  • Certifications directly related to the role (e.g. Azure AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ- 400, AZ-700 or AZ-900), preferred.
  • Relevant programming Software design. Software documentation. Software debugging.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, CIS)\.
  • Attention to detail; precision in configuration.
  • Customer-centric mindset.
  • Focused on performance, uptime, and user experience.
  • Ability to work well independently or within a team.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications required.

Supervision

  • Interaction/Supervision: Work is monitored under general supervision of supervisor and by following established, specific procedures described by supervisor; May act as a mentor/guide to less experienced support staff including selection, training, and evaluation; may coordinate work of support staff involved in a special project; no formal authority

Requirements

Physical: Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.

Manual Dexterity: Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.

Audio/Visual: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Travel: 5% or less.

Mental: Must be able to adhere to process protocol. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.

Schedules: Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday; occasional night or weekend may be necessary.
