Job Description

Experian is looking for an experienced attorney with experience working with complex agreements for sophisticated clients in a variety of industries and the public sector, including adtech, telecom, financial services, fintech, and technology. The position will provide you the opportunity to negotiate contracts directly with Experian's business clients, requiring in-depth work with and understanding of agreements for a variety of products and services, including credit and marketing data services, SaaS, licensed software, consulting, professional services, and analytics, as well as NDAs, evaluation agreements, standard terms and conditions, service level agreements, and master services agreements.

You will report to a Senior Commercial Contracts Manager and can work remotely or if desired in a local Experian office.

What you'll be doing

  • Serve as a negotiator and business partner, creating solutions that meet both Experian's business objectives and client compliance needs.
  • Ensure all contracts align with Experian policies, business practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including information security, compliance (internal and regulatory), sales, product marketing, legal, and finance to move deals to completion within tight timelines.
  • Maintain and enforce contracting policies, including obtaining and documenting approvals for non‑standard terms and pricing.
  • Support sales teams with ongoing contract administration and issue resolution.
  • Advise management on contractual terms, risks, and recommended negotiation positions.
  • Provide training and guidance to sales and other departments on contract issues, best practices, and negotiation strategies.

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school; admission to the bar of any state.
  • 4+ years of experience as member of in-house legal department or contracts department.
  • High level of comfort in a large, complex business environment in support of a sales-focused organization, interacting directly with business and technical colleagues and executive leadership to provide succinct, results-oriented advice in connection with contract terms and business policies/practices.
  • Excellent contract drafting skills and ability to lead a contract negotiation, understanding how to balance key risks and opportunities to reach a mutually acceptable agreement while maintaining a professional decorum and fostering strong internal and external relationships, including leading calls with clients during contract negotiations.
  • Direct experience negotiating critical contract terms, such as Limitations of Liability, Indemnification, Warranties, Termination, Data Privacy/Security, and Confidentiality.
  • Experience aligning contract terms to meet revenue recognition requirements and accounting rules for various types of services, including software and custom development projects.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay range for this position is listed above. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job-related skills, experience, and education.
