Job Description

Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist

We’re looking for a Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our growing North America Regulatory Oversight Compliance team. In this role, you’ll be a key partner in managing our regulatory obligations, particularly as they relate to ongoing regulatory reporting and disclosures to our regulators.

You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and lead our efforts in delivering regulatory reporting, helping ensure Wise remains compliant as we scale. You’ll also help shape and evolve our second-line compliance framework, providing critical insights to product, operations, and leadership teams, and helping embed compliance into everything we do.

Your mission: 

As a Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring Wise's adherence to regulatory requirements, particularly those supporting our ongoing licensing and regulatory reporting requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Regulatory Reporting: Manage US and Canada regulatory reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submission of ongoing and ad hoc reporting requests

  • License Maintenance: Lead the preparation and management of all US and Canada license renewals and annual reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.

  • Regulatory RFIs: Intake and coordinate response to all requests for information (RFIs), ensuring timely and accurate submission.  

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and  harmonize data

  • Record Retention: Ensure all supporting records are retained in compliance with all regulatory requirements

  • Regulatory Engagements: Support the Compliance team in completing periodic regulatory engagements. 

About you: 

  • Knowledge of money transmission, unclaimed property, and consumer compliance regulations (Reg E, UDAAP, E-Sign Act, etc.)

  • 3 years experience in licensing and / or regulatory reporting,  including experience:

    • Utilizing NMLS and US / Canadian state and territory portals and processes to deliver ad hoc and ongoing regulatory reporting

    • Working with internal cross-functional stakeholders including product, operation, finance, legal, and people teams

    • Communicating effectively with external stakeholders including auditors and regulators

  • Very detail-oriented

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Discretion and personal integrity, especially in regards to sensitive financial, personal, and corporate information

  • Ability to be both reactive and help solve problems in the moment as well as proactive, building longer term solutions using data-driven decision making

  • Experience (or interest) in working at a fast-paced internet, technology, or financial services companies in risk or compliance

  • Experience using G-Suite, Office, Confluence, Jira and collaborative tools (e.g. Slack, Teams)

  • Willing to travel, as Wise offices are located across different countries; and

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Some extra skills that would be great: 

  • Experience working in the Money Services Business (MSB) industry

  • Experience working with international teams and understanding of global regulatory environments.

  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager or similar qualification

  • Prior experience working with the CFPB, OCC, and/or state regulator (e.g. NYDFS, DFPI)
