Location: Austin, TX / Dallas, TX / Morristown, NJ / San Jose, CA

Reporting to: Director, Brand and Communications

*Hippo is hiring at either the Specialist of Manager level. Final leveling will be determined based on the candidate's depth of experience, ownership, and scope of past impact.

About Hippo:

Hippo was built on a promise: make homeownership effortless. Nearly a decade later, that mission still drives us. We use technology and data to help our customers stay ahead of problems and protect what matters most.

Today, that same tech-native approach powers our work beyond homeowners. Hippo operates as a diversified carrier platform, partnering with MGAs to deliver tailored program solutions that help them grow and deliver better customer experiences. Behind that work is a team that values ownership, curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

If you're energized by building what's next, we'd love to meet you.

About This Role:

Hippo is hiring a Content Marketer who is equal parts brand steward and editorial storyteller with a project management backbone. This is a role for someone who lives branded content and keeps many moving pieces driving forward. This person will act as the connective tissue for content strategy across marketing. You’ll also serve as a highly visible cross-functional internal partner, maintaining editorial standards of excellence for content across the broader organization.

You’ll manage editorial planning and the development and tracking of content performance, while collaborating cross-functionally to ensure content aligns with Hippo’s brand guidelines, legal requirements, and supports marketing and business goals. You’ll partner with internal and external content creators, manage agencies, and leverage insights to develop compelling, multi-purpose content that serves our business objectives.

About You:

  • A brand-first content marketer who understands and executes organic growth strategies.
  • A strategic storyteller with a proven ability to distill complex topics into engaging, easy-to-understand content.
  • A highly organized editor and project manager with a track record of delivering quality content on deadline.
  • An savvy content marketer who approaches every piece of content through the lens of voice, tone, and creative integrity, not just a checklist.
  • An excellent writer with experience creating and directing compelling copy that matches Hippo’s specific tone of voice and style.
  • A creative leader who can research industry trends and topics to craft editorial direction that serve multiple audiences and business goals.
  • A cross-functional collaborator who can partner with agencies, designers, product marketers, and communications teams.
  • A growth minded thinker who leans on data to refine and elevate content performance.
  • A confident communicator who thrives at working within regulated environments and with legal teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Grow Hippo’s editorial strategy by developing a content strategy that serves our branded channels.
  • Collaborate and drive results with SEO and content agencies to optimize and scale content efforts with an allotted budget.
  • Develop and oversee editorial calendars to ensure a steady cadence of high-quality content.
  • Work closely with internal insurance experts to transform technical topics into consumer and partner-friendly, insightful content.
  • Ensure all content aligns with Hippo’s brand voice and guidelines while keeping a steady eye on accuracy in a regulated industry.
  • Manage content workflows, including working with freelance writers, designers, and legal.
  • Develop multi-purpose content that can be repurposed across multiple platforms (e.g., blog, social, email, sales collateral).
  • Track and analyze content performance to refine strategy.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging digital content best practices to keep Hippo’s content fresh and relevant.

Must Haves:

For the Manager level:

  • 5+ years of content marketing or editorial experience, preferably in a regulated industry.

For the Specialist level:

  • 3-5+ years of content marketing or editorial experience, preferably in a regulated industry.

Required for Both Levels:

  • Growth-minded thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex topics into engaging, high-value content.
  • Familiarity with SEO and AEO-driven content strategies and managing organic traffic goals.
  • Experience with organic and paid social content strategies and experience developing content that supports marketing performance goals.
  • Experience working with designers to create visually compelling, brand-aligned content.
  • Proven track record of managing content teams and/or freelance writers and agencies.
  • Ability to handle cross-functional projects and collaborate across marketing and product teams.
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
