Job Summary
As the Chase Auto - Credit Strategy Officer - Executive Director, you will report directly to the head of the Chase Auto Credit Decisioning Unit responsible for building, managing and overseeing the newly created 1st line credit function for the Auto organization. You will play a key role in managing credit risk, ensuring sound lending decisions, and maintaining portfolio health.
Additionally, you will assess high-value credit exposures, develop risk management strategies, and shape credit policies to align with the bank's financial goals. You will utilize your deep analytical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and collaboration with internal teams to balance risk and growth. This role will also provide support in decision-making for complex transactions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal controls.
Job Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and approve credit exposures for commercial or consumer lending, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and policies.
  • Monitor loan portfolios, identify potential risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Help shape credit policies, underwriting standards, and risk management frameworks.
  • Ensure adherence to banking regulations and internal controls related to credit risk.
  • Work with teams across business lines (e.g., risk, underwriting, legal, finance) to balance growth and risk.
  • Provide approvals or recommendations for complex and high-value credit transactions.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • A Bachelor's Degree in finance, business administration, or a related field
  • Relevant experience in consumer lending, originations, and/or retail credit experience at a complex large-scale financial services business
  • Ability to evaluate and manage credit risk effectively and strong judgment in approving or recommending credit transactions
  • Knowledge of banking regulations and ensuring adherence
  • Demonstrated career of successful program implementations
  • Exceptional Analytical & Financial Skills: Advanced quantitative and qualitative finance abilities, leveraging data and feedback to solve complex problems and drive decision-making.
  • Strategic Thinking & Execution: Proven ability to identify opportunities for innovation and business improvement, with strong execution skills.
  • Leadership & Relationship Building: Exceptional people leadership, relationship development, and negotiation skills, earning trust among internal and external partners.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Demonstrated success collaborating across teams and business lines within large organizations.
  • Executive Communication: Strong proficiency in creating executive-level presentations and simplifying complex topics for senior audiences.
  • Initiative & Entrepreneurial Drive: High personal initiative, goal-setting, and entrepreneurial leadership to achieve challenging objectives.
