 The Opportunity

As a Customer Solutions Engineer – Payments, you will partner closely with Account Executives to help customers modernize their payment strategies. You’ll engage with technical and business stakeholders to understand their payment architecture, identify opportunities for improvement, and demonstrate how Zuora can help optimize payment performance while reducing complexity.

This is a highly consultative role requiring deep expertise in enterprise payments and the ability to connect technical capabilities to measurable business outcomes.

  • Serve as Zuora’s payments subject matter expert throughout the sales cycle.
  • Partner with Account Executives to identify and develop opportunities within existing and prospective enterprise customers.
  • Lead discovery sessions focused on payment architecture, gateway strategy, authorization performance, global expansion, and operational efficiency.
  • Design solution architectures that support flexible payment ecosystems across multiple payment providers, gateways, processors, and payment methods.
  • Deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and architecture reviews tailored to executive, business, and technical audiences.
  • Advise customers on best practices for payment orchestration, intelligent routing, payment optimization, tokenization, payment resilience, and global payment acceptance.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Product Marketing, Partnerships, and Engineering to represent customer requirements and influence future product capabilities.
  • Develop reusable solution assets, reference architectures, and technical enablement materials to scale payments expertise across the organization.
  • Support strategic RFPs, proof-of-concepts, and complex enterprise evaluations.
 About YouRequired Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Solution Consulting, or Solutions Architecture supporting enterprise software.
  • Deep domain expertise in enterprise payments gained through experience with a Payment Service Provider (PSP), payment gateway, payment orchestration platform, payment processor, or related payments technology company.
  • Strong understanding of payment ecosystems, including PSPs, gateways, acquirers, processors, card networks, payment rails, embedded payments, digital wallets, and alternative payment methods at global scale.
  • Experience designing and discussing complex payment architectures for enterprise high volume B2C / B2SMB customers.
  • Knowledge of payment optimization strategies, including intelligent routing, authorization optimization, tokenization, payment recovery, and payment resilience.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, webhooks, and modern integration patterns.
  • Outstanding presentation, communication, and customer-facing consulting skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value for executive audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting global enterprise customers across multiple industries.
  • Knowledge of subscription business models and recurring billing.
  • Experience integrating payments with billing, ERP, CRM, or commerce platforms.
  • Familiarity with PCI DSS, PSD2/SCA, and global payment regulations.
  • Experience working with SaaS platforms and cloud-based enterprise applications.

Compensation

The OTE range for this role is $124,375 - $251,160. OTE includes base salary and target variable compensation. A candidate’s final OTE will be determined based on factors including qualifications, relevant experience, job-related knowledge, specific skills, location, internal equity, and budget.

The base pay details represent the annualized salary range for the posted position. While we share a comprehensive range, a candidate’s final base salary will fall within these guidelines and will be determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to: qualifications of the candidate, job related knowledge, prior related experience, specific and unique skills, the location of the role, internal equity and internal budget.
