The Oracle Database Administrator administers enterprise Oracle database environments that support critical R+L Carriers business operations. The role protects availability, integrity, security, recoverability, and performance across production and nonproduction platforms.
This DBA performs installation, patching, monitoring, tuning, capacity planning, backup and recovery, security administration, and Data Guard support. The position also provides technical guidance and advanced troubleshooting to application and infrastructure teams.
Administer Oracle database instances and supporting services across their life cycle.
Monitor availability, capacity, storage, jobs, sessions, and operating health through Oracle Enterprise Manager and SolarWinds.
Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and retire database software under change-control standards.
Maintain accurate configuration, maintenance, and operating documentation.
Analyze database, SQL, wait-event, and resource performance; implement appropriate tuning actions.
Manage indexing, statistics, tablespaces, memory, and capacity to support stable service.
Investigate recurring incidents and eliminate root causes where practical.
Coordinate with application teams on efficient data-access and deployment patterns.
Operate and validate Oracle backup, restore, and recovery processes.
Administer and test Data Guard and other high-availability or disaster-recovery capabilities.
Participate in recovery exercises and document results, gaps, and corrective actions.
Respond to critical database incidents and after-hours escalations as assigned.
Manage database access, roles, privileges, auditing, and security configuration.
Address database vulnerabilities and patching requirements within approved timelines.
Deliver assigned project work and maintain accurate status in Azure DevOps.
Resolve Service Pro requests and share knowledge with database, infrastructure, and application teams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
3-5 years professional experience administering Oracle databases on Linux in an enterprise environment.
Experience with production monitoring, performance tuning, patching, backup, and recovery.
Experience supporting Oracle high availability and disaster recovery, including Data Guard.
Experience with process automation and scripting (bash).
Experience participating in projects and resolving complex database incidents.
Oracle Database administration, SQL, PL/SQL diagnostics, and performance analysis.
Oracle Enterprise Manager, SolarWinds, Service Pro, and Azure DevOps.
Backup and recovery concepts, Data Guard, capacity planning, and storage management.
Database security, access control, auditing, and change-management practices.
Clear communication during incidents, maintenance, and change activity.
Analytical troubleshooting and disciplined root-cause follow-through.
Collaboration with application, infrastructure, security, and database peers.
Reliable ownership of production environments and assigned work.
