The Role: Design Manager

As a Design Manager, you are responsible for coordinating and driving design execution across hyperscale data center projects. You oversee consultant performance, manage design milestones, and ensure deliverables align with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

This role serves as the central point of coordination between internal engineering teams, external design consultants, permitting authorities, and construction partners. Your work ensures design packages are complete, compliant, and ready to transition into construction without delay.

What You’ll Do
  • Support project kickoff meetings and ongoing design coordination meetings.

  • Manage and track RFIs, submittals, permits, and design milestones throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Coordinate internal teams, external consultants, and stakeholders to resolve design issues and changes.

  • Conduct site visits and perform quality control reviews of design deliverables.

  • Provide weekly status reports to leadership, including schedule, RFI, submittal, and change updates.

  • Support permitting processes, including plan submissions, cost forecasting, and AHJ coordination.

  • Set up and manage project documentation systems for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Facilitate cross-disciplinary design decisions and escalate issues when required.

  • Ensure consistent communication regarding schedule, cost, and quality performance.

  • Contribute to development and refinement of design and construction best practices.

What We’re Looking For
  • You manage complex design coordination with discipline and follow-through.

  • You communicate clearly across engineering, construction, and executive audiences.

  • You identify risks early and escalate when needed.

  • You stay organized while managing multiple parallel workstreams.

  • You hold consultants accountable to schedules and deliverables.

  • You balance cost, speed, and quality in fast-paced project environments.

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • Experience supporting hyperscale or large-scale data center design and construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of design development, permitting, and implementation processes.

  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to track and report on schedule, cost, and quality metrics.

  • Experience working with AHJs and managing permitting workflows.

  • Proficiency in construction management tools and document control systems.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.

  • Experience managing design consultants directly.

  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure systems and mission-critical environments.

If you meet most of these qualifications, we encourage you to apply.
