Quantiq runs considerable "in-house" infrastructure (IPA realm) consisting of 50-100 computers ranging from high performance servers and varied datacenter hardware (switches, FPGAs, fiber optic cabling), to desktop computers with dedicated GPUs and an array of monitors and peripherals across offices.

We control the majority of the stack and create, maintain, update, and monitor a variety of systems to keep the company’s trading running smoothly. Our hardware infrastructure operates entirely on Fedora Linux and incorporates significant first- and third-party software requiring occasional maintenance. This complete infrastructure has high uptime requirements to support our critical trading operations.

Role Description:

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of transforming and enhancing our infrastructure. You will collaborate with the Operations and Technical teams to improve our deployment pipelines, automate processes, and elevate our infrastructure.

This position requires strong Linux expertise, automation skills, and a deep understanding of network configurations and performance tuning for low-latency applications. If the following resonates with you, we would love to welcome you to our team.

Job Responsibilities:

-Analyze current systems, identify gaps, and spearhead improvements to optimize performance and scalability

-Fine-tune Linux systems (kernel and user-space) to minimize latency and improve reliability

-Design and manage real-time, low-latency networking configurations, adjusting kernel parameters, IRQ affinities, and CPU pinning as necessary

-Implement automation solutions using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python)

-Work with specialized hardware (FPGAs, custom network cards, high-frequency switches) to optimize latency in trading systems

-Develop and document backup procedures and failover strategies, conducting drills to improve failure tolerance

-Respond to issues and requests from the Operations and Technical teams

Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience in a DevOps, Systems Engineering, or related role

-Proven ability to build, optimize, and scale Linux-based infrastructure

-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in fast-paced environment

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-Ability to respond to occasional off-hour emergencies

-Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, C++, Bash)

-Exceptional capability debugging and solving complex issues related to both hardware, low level software, and networking

-Knowledge of network architecture

-Basic networking tool experience (ping, ifconfig, telnet, wireshark, nmcli)

-Experience with the following technologies:

*Computer hardware (such as Supermicro and Dell Servers)

*Networking hardware

*Fedora Linux

*FreeIPA, OpenLDAP, OpenVPN

*DNS

*ZFS

*Gitea, Zulip

*GRUB, PXE

*Note: You are not expected to know every technology listed but experience in all is a plus
