WOAI/KABB is seeking a full-time Digital Content Producer / Assignment Editor. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting engaging content and social media posts that will drive audience engagement. This position will consistently look for and create a diverse range of web content from a variety of sources. Know how to make contacts, generate story ideas, and react decisively to breaking news. Candidates must have strong logistical skills and the ability to move crews strategically. We need someone with strong communication skills who can coordinate coverage and problem solve unforeseen obstacles. This person must be able to perform calmly and communicate effectively under pressure.


  • Responsibilities and Requirements:
  1. Must have their pulse on the 24/7 news environment
  2. Solid news judgment
  3. Be a compelling and accurate writer
  4. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  5. Must have strong leadership and communication skills
  6. Ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily digital production
  7. Flexibility and on-the-spot problems solving abilities are a must
  8. Must be extremely proficient with the use of multiple video-sharing and social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok
  9. Creative in cross-promotions between on-air and online
  10. Must be proficient in AP Style
  11. Proficiency with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews is a plus
  12. Listen to scanners and react to breaking news, make beat checks, monitor web sites and social media, react to developing news
  13. Listen for and respond to breaking news
  14. Willing to work weekends, overnights, and holidays

  • Required skills and qualifications include, but are not limited to:
  1. Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy
  2. Ability to communicate effectively
  3. Basic computer knowledge/word processing skills
  4. General knowledge and interest in local, national, and world news
  5. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  6. Proficiency with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and emerging social media
  7. A Bachelor’s degree with a major in journalism is also preferred. 
  8. This position is full-time and will require working nights and weekends.
