Digital Marketing & Creative Specialist

Position Overview

The Boyd Companies, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned company. We are looking for a creative, technically curious Digital Marketing & Creative Specialist to join our marketing team.

This role is ideal for someone who works remotely and gets things done. This person has a strong eye for design, understands what makes creative content visually effective, and enjoys turning ideas into engaging digital content. You will help create marketing materials for websites, social media, digital advertising, email campaigns, video, and other digital platforms.

We are not looking for someone who simply knows how to use design software. We want someone who understands why a design works—from layout and visual hierarchy to typography, color psychology, composition, spacing, and branding.

You should also be comfortable learning new technology. Digital marketing and creative production are changing quickly, and we are looking for someone who is excited to explore new software, platforms, and AI tools that can make our marketing more creative, efficient, and effective.

A college degree is not required. We care more about your creativity, portfolio, technical ability, willingness to learn, and ability to produce great work.

What You'll Do

You will work closely with the Marketing Director to develop creative content and execute digital marketing initiatives across multiple brands, communities, campaigns, and platforms.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Design digital marketing materials for social media, websites, digital ads, email campaigns, landing pages, presentations, signage, and other marketing channels.
  • Create visually engaging social media graphics, short-form videos, reels, stories, advertisements, and web content.
  • Edit and produce video content for websites, YouTube, social media, digital advertising, and other platforms.
  • Use AI image and video generation tools to create, enhance, modify, and experiment with marketing creative.
  • Write effective prompts and refine AI-generated images, video, and creative concepts until they meet brand and quality standards.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of websites and landing pages.
  • Resize, adapt, and optimize creative assets for different advertising platforms, devices, screen sizes, and placements.
  • Help develop creative concepts for digital advertising campaigns.
  • Maintain brand consistency across multiple digital channels and campaigns.
  • Select appropriate fonts, colors, imagery, layouts, and visual styles based on the audience, brand, and campaign objective.
  • Apply design principles such as balance, contrast, hierarchy, alignment, repetition, proportion, and whitespace.
  • Understand and apply color theory and the psychology of color when developing marketing materials.
  • Understand how typography and font selection can influence brand perception, readability, emotion, and user experience.
  • Review creative work critically and identify opportunities to improve layout, readability, visual hierarchy, messaging, and overall effectiveness.
  • Help organize and maintain digital creative assets, templates, photography, video, logos, brand files, and marketing resources.
  • Stay current with design trends, social media trends, digital advertising formats, creative technology, and AI tools.
  • Test new creative approaches and help identify what types of content generate the strongest engagement and marketing results.
  • Collaborate with other members of the marketing, sales, operations, and leadership teams as needed.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has a combination of creativity, design judgment, curiosity, and technical confidence.

You should have:

  • A strong eye for good design and the ability to recognize when something visually works—and when it does not.
  • A working understanding of fundamental design principles.
  • Knowledge of color theory and an understanding of how color can influence emotion, attention, perception, and behavior.
  • An understanding of typography, font pairing, readability, and how different font styles influence brand perception.
  • Strong visual composition and layout skills.
  • An understanding of branding and the importance of maintaining a consistent visual identity.
  • Experience creating content for social media and digital platforms.
  • Experience using creative or design software.
  • Basic video editing skills or a strong desire to learn video production.
  • Comfort working with AI-powered creative tools for image generation, video generation, editing, brainstorming, and content production.
  • The ability to learn new software independently and quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines is important.
  • The ability to accept creative feedback and improve work based on direction.
  • The confidence to bring new ideas to the table is important.

Software & Technology

You do not need to know every platform we use on your first day.

You do need to be comfortable learning new tools.

Experience with any of the following is helpful:

  • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • InDesign
  • Premiere Pro
  • After Effects
  • Canva
  • WordPress or other website platforms
  • Social media management platforms
  • Email marketing platforms
  • Google Workspace
  • Microsoft Office
  • Digital advertising platforms
  • AI image-generation tools
  • AI video-generation tools
  • AI writing and marketing tools
  • Photo and video editing software

We regularly evaluate new technology, so the software you use today may not be the software you use a year from now. Curiosity and adaptability are important parts of this position.

AI & Emerging Technology

AI will be an important part of this role.

We are looking for someone who sees AI as another creative tool—not as a replacement for creativity.

The right candidate should be interested in learning how to use AI to:

  • Generate original visual concepts.
  • Produce and edit images.
  • Generate and edit videos.
  • Create backgrounds, environments, and creative variations.
  • Develop storyboards and campaign concepts.
  • Explore different visual styles.
  • Improve creative workflows.
  • Rapidly prototype marketing ideas.
  • Adapt creative for different audiences and platforms.
  • Support content development while maintaining brand standards.

AI-generated content still requires human judgment. You will be expected to recognize when AI-generated creative looks professional, when it does not, and how to refine it into something that represents the brand well.

We believe in supporting our team’s well-being both on and off the job. Here’s what we offer:

  • Health Coverage: Comprehensive Medical & Dental plans with the majority of the premium covered to keep your costs low, plus Vision coverage.
  • PTO: 15 Days Paid Time Off annually, accrual starting from hire date.
  • Holidays: 9 Paid Holidays plus 1 Flex Holiday

  • Employee Stock Ownership Program: Employees accumulate the value of shares annually and are paid out the value of the shares that are held in trust for their benefit.
