Director of AI & Agentic Systems

Augury is seeking a Director of AI & Agentic Systems to lead the company’s core intelligence capabilities, which form the foundation of Augury’s competitive advantage and proprietary IP. This is a senior, vision-setting leadership role responsible for guiding the evolution of Augury’s AI capabilities from signal processing and machine learning to agentic and autonomous decision systems deployed in real-world operational environments.

In this role, you will set the long-term direction of Augury’s AI platform and lead multidisciplinary teams across Signal Processing, Machine Learning, and GenAI and Agentic technologies. You will ensure raw sensor data is transformed into trusted insights and actions, influence architectural decisions across edge and cloud environments, and drive the next generation of industrial AI capabilities across the company.

This role sits at the center of Augury’s technology strategy. You will shape how raw industrial signals become trusted decisions, influence how AI is applied across the company, and help define the next chapter of industrial AI as the industry moves toward autonomous, AI-driven operations.

• Lead and scale multiple technical teams across Signal Processing, Machine Learning, and AI, spanning predictive, prescriptive, and agentic solutions.
• Define and execute Augury’s AI strategy and roadmap in alignment with product, business, and platform priorities.
• Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Reliability experts to shape AI direction, technical tradeoffs, and prioritization across the organization.

• Own and evolve Augury’s core intelligence stack, from time-series modeling and sensor fusion to agentic and autonomous decision systems.
• Set architectural direction to ensure performance, scalability, robustness, and operational reliability across edge, cloud, and real-time inference environments.
• Establish clear standards for when and how to apply classical machine learning, deep learning, LLM-based approaches, and agent-oriented systems.

• Lead research, prototyping, and production deployment of advanced AI systems, including:
• Agentic and reinforcement learning driven workflows for autonomous operational insights
• Time-series forecasting and anomaly detection
• Deep learning and multi-sensor fusion
• Build and own frameworks for experimentation, model governance, monitoring, and continuous improvement in production environments.
• Ensure research and innovation translate into reliable, explainable, and scalable customer-facing capabilities.

• Translate complex AI capabilities, risks, and technical tradeoffs into clear, actionable insights for executives, product leaders, and go-to-market teams.
• Represent Augury’s AI vision with customers, partners, and the broader industry through engagements, forums, and technical conferences.

• 10 or more years of experience in AI, machine learning, signal processing, or related computational fields, with a proven track record of designing and operating production-grade intelligence systems.
• Commercial experience designing, building, or leading agentic AI systems, including LLM-based reasoning, orchestration, tool use, and autonomous or semi-autonomous decision workflows in production environments.
• Strong ability to combine classical ML, time-series modeling, and signal processing with LLMs and agentic flows to deliver reliable, explainable, and actionable outcomes.
• Experience delivering AI-powered products end-to-end, from research and experimentation through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement in SaaS, edge, or hybrid environments.
• Solid understanding of AI system concerns such as model governance, evaluation, safety, observability, and lifecycle management, particularly in customer-facing or mission-critical contexts.

• 4 or more years of experience leading high-impact ML, AI, or engineering teams across both research and product execution and experience as manager of managers.
• Demonstrated ability to scale multidisciplinary teams while maintaining delivery focus, technical rigor, and clear ownership.
• Proven track record of building cultures of technical excellence, accountability, experimentation, and continuous learning.
• Experience leading teams through architectural change or AI paradigm shifts, including the adoption of LLMs and agentic systems.

• Ability to set and communicate long-term AI direction while balancing near-term delivery, technical risk, and business impact.
• Hands-on experience with agentic systems, autonomous decision workflows, or LLM-driven systems applied to real-world operational problems.
• Sound judgment in choosing when to apply classical ML, deep learning, LLM-based techniques, or agentic approaches based on problem context and constraints.
• Strong plus: background in time-series analytics, real-time inference systems, sensor data fusion, or closely related domains.

• Exceptional communicator with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders around complex AI decisions and tradeoffs.
• Strong aptitude for translating AI innovation into measurable business value, particularly in reliability, efficiency, and operational optimization domains.
• Comfortable representing AI strategy and technical direction in executive discussions, customer engagements, and cross-functional forums.

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, AI or ML, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
