Lead and grow a multi-disciplinary design org as a hands-on player-coach, define persona-led product design strategy, drive agentic and conversational UIs, conduct rigorous UX research, build design systems, and partner with product and engineering to deliver high-fidelity visual and interaction designs for industrial AI products.

Our mission is to transform how people and machines work together to push the boundaries of human productivity. A leader in Industrial AI, Augury helps the world’s manufacturers leverage real-time production insights to drive new levels of efficiency. Combining predictive and prescriptive AI technology with industry expertise, production teams can proactively address alerts, minimize downtime, reduce asset costs, and maximize yield and capacity. Our customers achieve payback in six months or less, enabling global scale. We're looking for team members excited to partner with the world's manufacturers and build the future of production together.

Design at Augury is the real deal. It touches everything from industrial hardware to complex dashboards. We are transforming a century-old industrial landscape by bringing AI to production lines. We are looking for a Director of Design who is a "Player-Coach"—a leader who can define a global vision, mentor a high-performing team, and remain deeply hands-on in the craft of agentic AI and user research.

Your Core Focus Areas
  • Hands-On "Player-Coach" Leadership: You lead by doing. While you drive strategy, you are a practitioner who is comfortable getting into the Figma files, owning design reviews, and providing the tactical, actionable feedback required to raise the bar.
  • Mentorship & Team Growth: You have a proven track record of growing UX designers from junior to senior levels. You will shape Augury’s multi-disciplinary design org, establishing a culture of craft excellence and coaching designers to reach their full potential.
  • The Shift to Agentic UI: You understand that the "dashboard world" is changing. You have experience designing conversational and agentic flows, and you know how to transition a UI from "showing data" to "executing intent." You will lead the design of experiences where AI agents drive the user journey.
  • Full-Stack Design Mastery (Research + Visual): You bridge the gap between deep analytical research and high-fidelity aesthetics. You know how to conduct customer research to identify personas and their "care-abouts," and you can translate those insights into "consumer-grade" visual designs that make complex industrial data intuitive.
A Day In Your Life
  • Persona-Led Strategy: Define the end-to-end design vision by identifying key personas (from Plant Managers to Reliability Engineers) and mapping their journeys across digital and physical touchpoints.
  • Active Mentorship: Conduct 1:1s and group critiques focused on career growth, methodology, and elevating the quality of individual designer output.
  • Agentic Innovation: Collaborate with AI/Engineering teams to define how our UI handles agent uncertainty, trust, and autonomous action—moving beyond the static dashboard.
  • Tactical Execution: Build and refine design systems and workflows that balance speed with "pixel-perfect" visual standards.
  • Collaborative Influence: Act as a strategic partner to Product and Engineering leadership to ensure design-led decision-making at every level of the company.
What You Bring
  • 10+ years of Product Design experience, with a significant portion in B2B, Enterprise, or Industrial IoT environments.
  • Hands-on Pedigree: A portfolio that showcases your ability to personally deliver high-fidelity visual designs and complex UX logic.
  • Agentic Expertise: Proven experience or a deep architectural understanding of Conversational UI and Agentic flows; you know how the UI changes when the system becomes proactive.
  • Research Rigor: Mastery of UX Research methodologies, including customer interviewing, persona mapping, and identifying user "care-abouts" to drive product requirements.
  • Proven Leadership: Experience successfully managing and scaling a design team through periods of rapid growth or technological shift.
  • Visual Excellence: A high bar for visual storytelling and UI design—ensuring that industrial tools feel as modern and seamless as the best consumer applications.
Bonus Skills
  • Experience designing for Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) AI systems.
  • Background in hardware-software integration or "Phygital" experiences.
  • Experience in high-growth startups where you had to build the design process from the ground up.

Perks

  • Stock options
  • Paid parental leave
  • Flex PTO
