About the role:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Director possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps, problems and solutions within the market they serve. They use their knowledge to help clients make better decisions, solve complex issues and execute new practices that propel clients’ businesses toward key objectives. A Director publishes these insights as pragmatic and/or provocative research. Additionally, they reinforce Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via in-person and virtual meetings, sales support visits, Gartner conferences and industry events.

What you will do:

  • Create high quality, clear, actionable, “must-have research” content focused on talent management technology and based on Gartner’s research best practices and methodologies. Talent management technology includes solutions that support talent/leadership identification, review and assessment plus 3 or more of the following: performance management, succession planning, feedback, employee engagement, competency models and skills-based talent management.
  • Bring your experience implementing AI solutions in talent management processes to the creation of new research that helps clients prioritize and make decisions about their technology, processes and roles.
  • Develop new research and ideas through thought leadership and offer compelling, actionable approaches specifically to CHROs needs and requests that accelerate their ability to act
  • Provide high quality and timely peer review for research content written by Gartner team members
  • Identify the root cause of a CHRO’s barriers to change or their overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing research positions about talent management technology across a team of analysts
  • Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to talent management technology via virtual or face-to-face interactions
  • Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events and client briefings
  • Attend industry and professional association conferences as needed
  • Predict how specific markets are developing, help clients in their selection process and assist vendors in overall positioning
  • Build credibility as a talent management technology expert to represent Gartner research, methodology and strategy
  • Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the research community
  • Be a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team members, as needed

What you will need:

  • 10+ years of relevant field or industry experience in strategic planning and implementation of talent management technology including more recent experience in the use and/or implementation of AI
  • Knowledge of talent and leadership identification and development, employee listening, competency models, performance management, succession planning, feedback, skills, change management and people analytics
  • Experience and comfort advising and working with CHROs and their peers
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred
  • Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
  • Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team
  • Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with C-level executives and additional stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables
  • Demonstrate superior analytical skills, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions
  • Demonstrate excellence in research and writing ability
  • Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks to client challenges
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements on your area of expertise in talent management technology
  • Learning agile and adept with navigating highly matrixed environments
  • Ability to effectively adjust communication style to different audiences
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 132,000 USD - 167,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates. We also offer market leading benefit programs including generous PTO, a 401k match up to $7,200 per year, the opportunity to purchase company stock at a discount, and more.
