Gartner is seeking a Director Analyst for our CIO and AI Leader group to serve as a strategic thought leader for the future of technology operations and implementation. In this role, you won’t just track trends—you will define the playbook for how global CIOs secure and modernize their enterprises through the lens of AI and data transformation. Leveraging over 8+ years of executive experience in sectors like Government, Banking, Manufacturing or Healthcare, you will transform complex market shifts into actionable brilliance, mentoring global leaders and commanding the stage as a definitive voice in the industry.

About the role:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market insights and best practices for a broad range of clients. This analyst role sits within Gartner’s CIO and AI Leaders group, Organizational Excellence & Value Leadership Pillar. The analyst will support CIOs and other technology executives in architecting the use of technology, data, and artificial intelligence, in a secure approach, for modernization and innovation.

A Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights organization, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional, and/or global levels. Using exceptional research and analytical skills, a Director plays a significant role in producing insights that Gartner clients consume and apply to their mission-critical priorities. They engage with clients through the creation of content and via in-person and virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.

What you will do:

  • Track global market trends related to core industries, relevant vendors, emerging technologies, and best practices to advise CIOs and IT Executives in staying ahead in a constantly evolving technology landscape and changing geopolitical uncertainties

  • Build credibility as an artificial intelligence and platform technology expert representing Gartner Business and Technology Insights on topics such as integrating AI platform implementation, integration of AI into operations, and implementing and orchestrating AI agents

  • Actively participate in ideation, cohort discussions to establish strong positions on technical topics that impact CIOs, with an emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative studies to establish thought-provoking insights for our C-level clients

  • Write evidence-based content that is easily consumed, defensible and actionable.

  • Deliver high-quality, actionable advice to an executive client audience, CIOs, AI Leaders, and Technology Executives, through a variety of media.

  • Create and deliver thought-provoking presentations for webinars, executive briefings and other client-facing events.

  • Deliver outstanding sales and service support to retain and grow the Gartner client base.

  • Identify research process improvements or develop new processes that help the team and the Business and Technology Insights group excel in delivering client value

  • Be a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team members

What you will need:

  • 8+ years’ experience working as an information technology executive in one or more of the following industries; government, banking, manufacturing or health care

  • A deep technical background founded in IT department engineering discipline-based experience (e.g. platform engineer for AI, systems engineer, information security engineer, cloud engineer, solutions architect etc.)

  • Experience helping organizations be AI ready—specifically, how to modernize data architecture and cloud compute power to sustain AI agent orchestration

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders

  • Learning agility and adeptness with navigating highly matrixed environments

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Strong organizational skills: with the ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables

  • Strong communicator who can explain complex concepts concisely and simply.

  • Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions.

  • A proficiency in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges.

  • An ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team

  • Master's degree or equivalent degree preferred

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 148,000 USD - 175,500 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates. We also offer market leading benefit programs including generous PTO, a 401k match up to $7,200 per year, the opportunity to purchase company stock at a discount, and more.
