Lead strategy and execution for Cloudflare's Developer Platform events portfolio, owning flagship and field programs, budgets, vendor relationships, team growth, and cross-functional integration to drive developer acquisition, product adoption, and community growth.
Available Locations: Austin, TX | New York, NY | San Francisco, CA
About the role
Cloudflare's Developer Platform (Workers, Pages, R2, D1, Durable Objects, AI, and more) is how the next generation of builders ships to the global Internet. Events are one of the most powerful levers we have to reach developers where they are - and to create the moments that turn curiosity into conviction.
We're looking for a Director of Developer Events to own the end-to-end events strategy and execution for our Developer Platform. This person will be responsible for the full portfolio: flagship tentpole events, Cloudflare-owned developer experiences, sponsored and partnered events, executive dinners, pop-up activations, and field programs. You'll shape how Cloudflare shows up in real life.
We're looking for someone with taste - a point of view on what makes a developer event worth attending, a keen eye for design and experience details, and the creative ambition to build moments that developers actually remember and talk about. You'll partner closely with Developer Relations, Product, Sales, Marketing, and Communications to ensure our events strategy drives real developer acquisition, product adoption, and community growth.

You'll partner closely with Developer Relations, Product, Sales, Marketing, and Communications to ensure our events strategy drives real developer acquisition, product adoption, and community growth.
What you'll do
- Own the developer events strategy - Define and execute a unified events portfolio for the Developer Platform, spanning flagship moments, owned events, sponsored/third-party events, executive dinners, pop-up experiences, and field activations.
- Set the creative bar - Bring a strong point of view on experience design, branding, and storytelling. Every touchpoint - from booth design to keynote content to swag - should reflect Cloudflare's developer-first identity and stand out in a sea of forgettable conference booths.
- Drive developer acquisition and adoption -You'll define the metrics that matter and hold the team accountable to them.
- Build and manage the events calendar - Evaluate, prioritize, and manage a global calendar of 50+ events per year. Make disciplined bets on where Cloudflare needs to show up and where it doesn't.
- Manage budget at scale - Own a significant events budget. Allocate spend across the portfolio with clear ROI frameworks and the ability to pivot mid-year based on performance data.
- Lead cross-functional execution - Partner with DevRel (for technical content and speakers), Product (for speakers, launches and demos), Sales (for executive dinners and field events), and Comms (for press and analyst moments) to ensure events are fully integrated into broader GTM motions.
- Manage vendors and agencies - Oversee relationships with event production agencies, venue partners, AV vendors, and creative contractors. Hold external partners to the same quality bar you set internally.
- Build and lead a team - Manage and grow a lean team of event professionals. Set the culture, operating cadence, and quality standards for the events function.
- Innovate the format - The best developer events in 2026 don't look like the best developer events in 2019. Bring fresh thinking on formats: hackathons, build-alongs, AI agent showcases, intimate roundtables, hybrid/digital experiences, and activations that meet developers in non-traditional settings.
- 15+ years of experience in events, experiential marketing, or developer marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing teams and budgets.
- Deep experience with developer or technical audiences. You understand what resonates with engineers and builders - and what doesn't. You've run events where the attendees are skeptical of marketing by default, and you've earned their attention anyway.
- Taste and creative vision. You have a portfolio (formal or informal) of events you're proud of. You can articulate why specific design, content, and experience choices mattered. You sweat the details - signage, lighting, run-of-show, speaker prep, the food.
- Strategic and analytical rigor. You can build a business case for an events portfolio, tie event investments to pipeline and developer acquisition metrics, and make data-informed trade-offs between reach and depth.
- Proven ability to manage large budgets ($2M+) with financial discipline and transparency.
- Cross-functional leadership skills. You thrive in matrixed organizations and can influence without authority across Product, Sales, DevRel, and Comms teams.
- Experience scaling an events function - you've built calendars, playbooks, and teams, not just executed someone else's plan.
- Comfort with ambiguity and speed. Cloudflare moves fast. You'll need to operate with a bias for action while maintaining quality.
- Background in or strong exposure to product-led growth (PLG) motions
- Experience producing hybrid or digital-first event formats
