This role serves as the primary steward of the Mission Software Initiative, including roadmap execution, IR&D alignment, customer engagement, and technical integration across programs.

Key Responsibilities:

CTO Initiative Ownership:

Coordinate with other initiative leads to ensure cohesive enterprise advancement.

IR&D Strategy & Technical Review:

• Review IR&D proposals related to mission software for feasibility, desirability, and strategic impact.

• Shape IR&D investments around open architectures, cloud scale mission software, and future ready mission capabilities

Customer Engagement & Capture Support:

• Provide technical leadership for captures and pursuits involving mission systems, OMS/FACE, mission applications, autonomy frameworks, and digital enabled C2.

• Engage with customers to shape technical requirements, architecture options, and integration pathways.

Cross Portfolio Mentorship & Knowledge Development:

• Mentor engineers across BUs in mission architecture, DevSecOps, software assurance, digital engineering, and platform agnostic integration approaches.

• Sponsor and contribute to Communities of Practice, capability catalogs, reusable software patterns, and enterprise knowledge management.

• Define and propagate best practices in DevSecOps across programs —including CI/CD automation, software assurance, test harnesses, secure coding policies, and cloud orchestration approaches.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 12+ years of experience developing or integrating embedded mission systems software for defense, space, intelligence, or national security programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in:

    • Real time/near real time mission systems
  • Proven leadership in designing and scaling secure, reliable, and interoperable software architectures across complex programs.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate technical concepts clearly to customers, executives, and non technical audiences.
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience in one or more mission domains: ISR, autonomy, space operations, EW, C2, cyber, or tactical aviation.
  • Familiarity with MBSE, digital engineering environments, or mission modeling/simulation.
  • Experience with exportability strategies, releasability planning, and coalition ready mission software.
  • Relevant certifications: AWS/Azure Architect, Security+, CISSP, SAFe, or equivalent.
