About the Role:

The Director of Enterprise Systems Engineering is responsible for leading a cross-functional team of engineers who establish, build and support enterprise software applications.  This is a technical leadership role that owns the most difficult and technical problems affecting Motive’s business operations from top of the funnel through order processing, customer support and experience, billing, revenue, ecommerce, HR, employee experience and more.  Successful candidates will have extensive enterprise systems experience and be a principles based, strategic thought leader with a focus on transformation, scalability, reliability and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do:
  • Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Systems, this role leads an Agile engineering operation that designs and implements scalable technical solutions for Lead to Cash systems which today include Salesforce (Sales & Service Clouds, Service Cloud Voice, CPQ, Experience cloud, Commerce cloud), Zuora Billing & Revenue, Netsuite, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Boomi, Mulesoft, Glean, and many more
  • Lead a motivated cross-discipline team of Enterprise Systems Engineers and functional QA and Test Automation engineers in maintaining the portfolio of enterprise applications and integrations.
  • Guide teams in innovative use of cloud-based technology solutions, including but not limited to configuration of Salesforce platform components, AppExchange packages, creation of complex data models, integration with external systems, and custom code or workflows as necessary, to solve business requirements. 
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and productivity by enhancing communication, collaboration, and alignment across all teams.
  • Establish best practices from external sources, implement and maintain performance KPIs, standards and operational guidelines, with focus on platform reliability, engineering productivity, and delivery velocity.
  • Be the subject matter expert and innovation thought leader in driving industry best practices for Lead to Cash ecosystem and associated integrated tools.  Stay current on system releases, new features, product roadmaps and applications available from 3rd parties.
  • Innovate with AI and drive productivity through AI for engineering and our stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with Product Management, the business and stakeholders to plan, prioritize, and schedule applications development and enhancement requests, while providing direction and guidance to the applications development staff.
  • Deliver quality applications and support within a SOX compliance control environment with change management. 
  • Accountable for availability and performance of applications portfolio, including ownership of incidents and release management.
  • Provide oversight in standards adherence through reviews of project work including detailed technical specifications and application code.
  • Spearhead the strategic deployment of application performance monitoring (APM) and observability platforms to establish a proactive fault detection framework, enabling the team to identify and resolve potential system failures before they impact production environments.
What We're Looking For:
  • MS/BS degree in Computer Science with at least 8 years management experience in this field.  
  • 5+ years experience in multiple domain areas from the top of the Lead funnel, through Accounts, Opportunities, CPQ, approvals, order processing, fulfillment, billing, and revrec processes in a SaaS & recurring revenue company.
  • 3+ years in an individual contributor role as a Senior Engineer, Application Architect or equivalent level of engineer, independently designing and delivering complex projects in multiple technologies (e.g. Sales/CRM, Service, CPQ, Commerce).
  • 3-5 years of continuous ownership at a single company of a large tech stack with accountability for architectural decisions, implementation, and maintenance.
  • A hands-on leader who’s willing to roll up their sleeves when needed, while still delegating effectively and empowering their team to excel
  • Experience in a fast paced growth or startup environment with rapidly increasing scale.  
  • Experience supporting a large company with 3000+ employees.
  • Strong understanding of Security best practices including Salesforce Security model, Threat modeling, and least privileged / zero trust access models.
  • Hands-on experience in Salesforce configuration / customization using Apex, Flows, AgentForce, Triggers, Scheduled and Batch classes, Lighting web components (LWC), Performance testing and optimization, environment planning, release management 
  • Proven experience in managing onshore/ offshore models with a hybrid of vendors/consultants and FTEs. 
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills with ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and thrive in a rapidly changing business environment. 
  • Experience with Devops and Source Code management Tools
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, including scrum and continuous integration environments (Copado, Gearset, Autorabit etc). Proven experience in Agile process improvement. 
  • Proven experience with Salesforce Data Cloud, including data stream ingestion, identity resolution, data modeling, and creating calculated insights to build unified customer profiles and drive personalized engagement.
  • Experience with integrating Salesforce.com with 3rd party applications using SOAP/REST API, Middleware, etc.

Your compensation may be based on several factors, including education, work experience, and certifications. For certain roles, total compensation may include restricted stock units. The compensation range for this position will depend on where you reside. For this role, the compensation range is:

$155,000$238,000 USD
