Director of Human Resources

About Stryker Digital

If you want to build the People Operations function behind an 8-figure company and have the authority to create the systems, policies, and infrastructure that support its next stage of growth, this is the role for you.

Stryker Digital has scaled from $0 to a $15M/year run rate in under five years and now serves 700+ active clients across the United States. Our business has grown quickly, and now we are building the HR infrastructure to match.

We have a growing team of U.S.-based employees across multiple states, a large international workforce, and plans to continue hiring aggressively.

We are hiring a Director of Human Resources to own the function, build the systems, and become the primary HR leader across the company.

We are looking for someone who has already built or significantly scaled an HR function inside a growing company. The right person is hands-on, highly organized, strong in multi-state compliance, payroll, employee relations, benefits, performance management, and terminations, and comfortable working directly with executives and outside employment counsel.

This is not a role for someone who wants to inherit a finished HR department.

This is a role for someone who wants to build one.

The Role

You will own the day-to-day People Operations and HR function at Stryker Digital.

Your job is to build a compliant, scalable HR operation while remaining hands-on enough to execute the details yourself.

You will work directly with our CEO, COO, managers, employees, employment counsel, payroll providers, and benefits partners.

What You'll Own
  • Own multi-state HR compliance across our remote U.S. workforce, including employee classification, state-specific requirements, workers' compensation, unemployment, leave, and employment documentation.

  • Manage onboarding and offboarding from accepted offer through termination, including I-9s, Rippling setup, payroll enrollment, equipment coordination, employee files, and separation paperwork.

  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and managers, including employee relations, performance issues, PIPs, written warnings, complaints, and sensitive workplace situations.

  • Lead termination processes in partnership with leadership and outside employment counsel when needed.

  • Oversee payroll administration in Rippling, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, deductions, corrections, and payroll accuracy.

  • Evaluate and help implement the next stage of our benefits program, including health insurance, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, parental leave, and retirement benefits.

  • Partner with leadership on compensation, raises, promotions, bonus structures, job levels, and compensation benchmarking.

  • Identify HR risk before it becomes a problem and work directly with our employment attorney when legal guidance is needed.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who has already operated at this level.

Ideally, you have:

  • 5+ years of progressive HR or People Operations experience

  • Experience as an HR Director, People Operations leader, or senior HR operator

  • Proven experience building or significantly scaling an HR function

  • Experience supporting a 30 to 100+ employee organization

  • Strong multi-state employment and compliance experience

  • Experience supporting a remote or distributed workforce

  • Hands-on experience with employee relations, terminations, payroll, and benefits

  • Experience building HR policies, processes, and performance management systems

  • Experience working directly with executives and employment counsel

  • Strong judgment and the ability to operate independently

Experience with Rippling is highly preferred.

Who Will Be Successful Here

You'll probably be a strong fit if you:

  • Are extremely organized

  • Have strong attention to detail

  • Move quickly

  • Take ownership

  • Are comfortable making decisions

  • Know when something requires legal escalation

  • Can communicate directly with executives

  • Can handle sensitive information with discretion

  • Don't need a large HR team underneath you to get things done

  • Enjoy building systems from scratch

  • Can balance employee experience with the needs of the business

  • Are comfortable working inside a fast-growing entrepreneurial company

Compensation & Benefits

  • $120,000 to $140,000 base salary, plus performance bonus

  • Fully remote

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Healthcare stipend

  • MacBook provided
