About the role

We are seeking an experienced technology leader to direct and evolve our IT function. This role is responsible for managing all technology operations, defining and implementing IT strategy and policy, ensuring secure and reliable systems, and serving as a strategic partner to executive leadership. You will lead a team of IT professionals, oversee internal and external technology partners, and drive continuous improvement across our infrastructure and applications in a fast‑growing, dynamic environment.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and manage all technology operations, ensuring systems and services meet established goals and support organizational strategy.
  • Develop and implement IT policies, standards, and systems; identify needs for upgrades or new solutions and make strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Oversee the configuration, performance, and lifecycle of all IT infrastructure and applications (on‑premises, cloud, security, LAN/WAN, and mobile), including regular maintenance, monitoring, performance tuning, and patching.
  • Direct enterprise‑wide IT initiatives, including strategy analysis, due diligence, and major projects; ensure timely execution of deliverables.
  • Manage internal IT staff and external vendors/contractors; build and lead a high‑performing team through coaching, mentorship, and clear direction.
  • Ensure robust system security and compliance by enforcing security standards and policies, managing access, conducting risk assessments, monitoring for suspicious activity, and remediating identified threats.
  • Establish and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring systems and processes are documented, tested, and improved as needed.
  • Drive user adoption and effective use of technology by developing documentation, training users, communicating system changes, and serving as an advisor and advocate for technology solutions across the business.
  • Evaluate IT infrastructure, applications, and services to identify opportunities to improve performance, reduce risk, and optimize capital and operating costs.
  • Provide regular operational, service desk, infrastructure, security, compliance, and KPI reporting to executive management.
  • Assist as needed with complex troubleshooting and resolution of high‑impact technical issues to ensure system availability, integrity, and reliability.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven ability to lead and manage comprehensive IT operations, including strategic planning, policy development, and system implementation.
  • Deep understanding of diverse IT infrastructure (hardware, software, networks, cloud, security) with hands-on experience in system design, development, and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance (e.g., SoX controls).
  • Skilled in building, mentoring, and leading high-performing IT teams, as well as effectively managing external vendors and contractors.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and driving innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders and collaborating effectively with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, customer service, and continuous improvement.

Education and Experience 

  • Proven experience as an IT Director or similar senior technology leadership role.
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; MS/MA is a plus.
  • Certifications or proven experience in cybersecurity.
  • Experience as a System Administrator or in a similar hands‑on technical role.
  • Extensive, hands‑on experience in the design, development, and implementation of various IT systems.
  • Experience operating in a demanding environment with a strong internal and external customer service focus.
  • Operational leadership experience in a fast‑growing and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of SoX controls, policies, and procedures.
