The Opportunity:

Director – Partner Success Training & Development

(Role will be based in Austin, Texas)

HomeAway is looking for a Director to help the company’s Partner Success team drive a step change improvement in partner performance on its family of sites (Partner = homeowner and property manager)

HomeAway is actively seeking exceptional candidates who have demonstrated:

3) Successful leadership of highly complex, cross-functional projects.
4) Interest and experience in technology, e-commerce and/or consumer products.
5) Passion for travel generally, and the VR industry, specifically.

Primary responsibilities:

This Director will report to the VP of Partner Success Strategy & Operations and will lead a team across offices in (primarily) Austin, London and Madrid. This leader will be responsible for:

  • Working with the Partner Success leadership team to transform the sales team from one that historically focused on selling advertisements to one focused on training the HomeAway technology.
  • Leading a team (and managing a budget) of ~20+ content developers, trainers and coaches focused on developing the Partner Success teams’ skills.
  • Understanding the future of our business to create and communicate a training vision that will establish global standards and affect change through engaged leadership.
  • Developing a new organizational and operating model that enables the team to prioritize, create, disseminate and measure training and development content.
  • Seeking out new and innovative learning and communications best practices and then leveraging technology to aid it their delivery.
  • Utilizing multiple channels and tools to support a broad array of learners and learning objectives, such as: Instructor-led training, Virtual instructor-led training, Digital learning (e-Learning), Gamification, Simulation, Assessments, Mentoring, etc.
  • Assessing and tracking training effectiveness that align to business outcomes and drive continuous improvement in our programs.
  • Collaborating effectively across all business and support functions at HomeAway (i.e., Executive management, Partner Success, Product, Development, Systems Engineering, Marketing, Analytics, Data Science, Finance, etc.) to ensure timely delivery of high-impact work product.

Profile/Skills:

  • A strong record of academic excellence.
  • College/University degree combining education, business and /or computer science a plus.
  • Master’s degree from a top program a plus.
  • Lean/Six Sigma training a plus.
  • A strong record of professional performance.
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Experience managing managers and driving change in a matrixed organization is required.
  • Experience building a training and development organization a plus.
  • Experience in e-commerce, technology and/or consumer products a plus.
  • Repeated experience in project management and facilitation of process improvement.
  • Exceptional analytic horsepower to drive data analysis with or without the aid of additional resources.
  • The ability to communicate complex business problems and insights to a wide audience.
  • A senior management perspective with solid interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • A high tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to drive to action despite incomplete information.
  • A true passion for the travel and vacation rental industries.
  • Experience with agile work-flow and technologies a strong plus: SalesForce, JIRA, Atlassian, etc.
  • Technical understanding of integration technologies and management software a strong plus: XML, APIs, etc.
