About SafeLease

At SafeLease, we're rethinking how P&C insurance is sold in an age of technological change. We believe the industry's biggest inefficiencies aren't technical problems — they're structural ones. And we're building the team to tackle them.

SafeLease is a profitable insurance business that designs, underwrites, and distributes specialty coverage for commercial property owners and their tenants. Most insurance companies either distribute products or bear the risk — we do both. We back our policies with our own capital, which means we control the full stack: product design, tech, and the speed at which we move. That end-to-end ownership lets us offer customers real flexibility, saving time and money for more than 4,000 properties insured for billions in value nationwide.

We're a team of 70, growing over 100% annually, and we've done it without sacrificing profitability or culture. Here, you'll get high discretion and a wide aperture of problems to solve. We embrace the newest technologies, move fast together, and operate with the intensity of a small company where every person's work is visible. If you're looking for a place to sharpen your craft alongside people who take their work seriously, you'll fit right in.

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Product Management, Claims to own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for SafeLease's claims experience. You will build and refine the products and platforms that power the end-to-end claims lifecycle. This role blends traditional product leadership with deep operational insight into claims, requiring both strategic vision and hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

  • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for SafeLease's claims platform, aligning it with company strategy and measurable business outcomes.

  • Partner with the Claims organization to understand and optimize the end-to-end claims lifecycle and translate those needs into scalable product solutions.

  • Integrate AI and automation across the claims lifecycle, identifying opportunities to streamline intake, adjudication, and settlement, reduce manual effort, and improve accuracy and speed at scale.

  • Prioritize, source, and refine the data and tooling that power claims operations, working closely with Engineering to deliver against the roadmap.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Claims, GTM, Support, Finance, and Executive Leadership to define priorities, refine requirements, and ensure go-to-market readiness.

  • Develop and monitor claims product KPIs (e.g., cycle time, loss adjustment expense, leakage, automation rate, customer satisfaction) to evaluate impact and guide iteration.

  • Roll up your sleeves to build MVPs, run competitive and market analyses, and lead product revamps, while also presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Connect product decisions to measurable outcomes, clearly communicating how your work drives growth, efficiency, and business performance.

  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration, managing stakeholder relationships to drive consensus and outcomes on claims priorities.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in product management, with a track record of owning products or platforms end-to-end, preferably in B2B technology with data-rich problems.

  • Proven ability to translate technical features into clear business value for both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.

  • Strong analytical and technical capability, including proficiency with data tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, Tableau, Metabase, or Power BI to support modeling, insights, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and leading collaboration across Engineering, Product, and business teams.

  • Skilled in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, such as interviews, surveys, and statistical analysis.

  • Experience building and deploying agentic AI solutions (Claude specifically)

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or managing products within a claims, insurance, personal lines, or InsurTech environment.

  • Familiarity with claims management systems and claims process automation.

  • Understanding of claims regulatory requirements, loss reserving, or fraud/leakage mitigation.

  • MBA or advanced degree.

  • Proficiency with product and project management tools (e.g., Notion).

  • Experience in the self-storage and/or insurance industry.
