Lead and scale multiple engineering teams to build end-to-end AI application experiences. About the Role

We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the Procore AI Application Experience team. This team is responsible for the end-to-end product surfaces that enable users to interact with, configure, and govern Procore's AI capabilities. You will own the experience layer that turns powerful AI models and agents into intuitive, trustworthy, and enterprise-ready workflows — ensuring that users can complete valuable real-world tasks like managing RFIs, searching project documents, and navigating complex construction workflows through AI-assisted experiences.

Procore's AI capabilities are only as valuable as the experience layer that delivers them. Users need to trust, understand, and control AI before they adopt it in mission-critical construction workflows. Administrators need visibility, governance, and auditability before they approve AI for their organizations. This role owns that entire surface — the difference between AI that sits unused and AI that transforms how the construction industry works.

This is a high-visibility leadership role that sits at the intersection of AI product innovation and enterprise-grade platform engineering. You will shape how hundreds of thousands of construction professionals experience AI in their daily work.

What You'll Do:

Set the technical vision and multi-quarter roadmap for the AI Application Experience portfolio, aligning with Procore's broader AI and product strategy.

• Drive the evolution of Procore's  embedded context awareness AI solutions.

• Define and deliver the interaction patterns for AI-assisted task completion — designing how users initiate, supervise, approve, and audit AI-driven actions across Procore's platform.

• Build, lead, and mentor multiple engineering teams (ICs and managers), establishing a culture of craft, velocity, and user empathy.

• Partner closely with Product, Design, AI/ML, Security, and Compliance to deliver cohesive, accessible, and trustworthy AI experiences.

• Champion engineering excellence: system architecture, frontend performance, accessibility standards, design system adoption, and operational reliability.

What We're Looking For:

12+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in engineering leadership roles (managing managers, leading multiple teams or a department).

• Experience shipping complex, user-facing application platforms — particularly in SaaS, productivity tools, or enterprise software.

• Demonstrated ability to lead full-stack teams building rich web application experiences (React, TypeScript, modern frontend architectures) with strong backend and API design sensibility.

• Deep understanding of enterprise requirements: User Management, RBAC/ABAC permission models, audit logging, compliance frameworks, multi-tenant governance, and admin tooling.

• Experience building contextual or adaptive UX — applications that respond to user state, workflow context, or personalization signals.

• Strong product intuition — ability to partner with PM and Design to follow AI-SDLC to try out the proposal and then finalize the product deliveries.

• Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing engineering teams at scale.

Nice to Have:

Experience building AI/ML-powered product surfaces — chat interfaces, copilots, agent orchestration UIs, or AI configuration experiences.

• Familiarity with knowledge management, RAG architectures, or document intelligence systems and how they surface in product UX.

• Background in construction technology, project management software, or complex B2B workflow products.

• Experience with enterprise admin consoles, usage analytics dashboards, or platform governance tooling (e.g., Salesforce Shield, Workday admin, similar).

Understanding of accessibility (WCAG) and internationalization in enterprise contexts.

Additional Information

Base Pay Range:

233,360.00 - 320,870.00 USD Annual

This role may also be eligible for Equity Compensation and/or Bonus Incentive Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.

For Los Angeles County (unincorporated) Candidates:

Procore will consider for employment all qualified applicants, including those with arrest or conviction records, in accordance with the requirements of applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles’ Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, and the California Fair Chance Act.

A criminal history may have a direct, adverse, and negative relationship on the following job duties, potentially resulting in the withdrawal of the conditional offer of employment: 1. appropriately managing, accessing, and handling confidential information including proprietary and trade secret information, as well as accessing Procore's information technology systems and platforms; 2. interacting with and occasionally having unsupervised contact with internal/external customers, stakeholders, and/or colleagues; and 3. exercising sound judgment.
