Job Description for Director, Business Insights

Introduction

We are seeking a highly strategic and results-oriented Director, Business Insights to join the core Strategy, Planning, and Data Insights organization at Informatica. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for transforming the company's data assets into actionable intelligence that drives strategic and operational decisions, with a critical focus on the Customer Experience domain. You will define the analytical agenda, ensure the quality and delivery of all executive-level reporting, and Lead and drive adoption of advanced analytical techniques

About the Role

The Director, Business Insights reports to the Senior Director, Strategy, Planning, and Data Insights and acts as the key analytical and strategic partner for the Customer Experience leadership team.

Customer Experience at Informatica comprises various critical functions like Customer Success, Global Customer Support, Renewals, Professional Services, and Education services. This team is one of Informatica's strongest assets, enabling us to provide best-in-class experience to our customers and strengthen relationships by delivering on our promise of superior technology and proven results.

This role requires a blend of deep analytical acumen and executive presence, focused on ensuring that the entire Customer Experience ecosystem is optimized through data-driven strategies, from improving retention models to standardizing global performance reporting.

Success hinges on a proven ability to translate complex data findings into clear, persuasive strategic recommendations that influence senior leadership.

What you will do : Strategy, Execution, and Impact

The Director, Business Insights is accountable for the governance, quality, and strategic application of all analytical output focused on customer health and business efficiency. Your responsibilities and goals include:

  • Executive Insights & Delivery: Own the end-to-end process for generating and presenting high-quality, timely strategic reports, including all executive-level deliverables (e.g., Board Decks, Investor Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews). Achieve 100% on-time delivery of compelling insights for senior leadership.

  • Customer Value & Behavior Frameworks: Oversee the strategic design and integration of robust analytical frameworks that provide deep insights into customer behavior, retention, and value optimization across Customer Success, Renewals, and Support functions. Ensure the successful incorporation of these models into all relevant business reports.

  • Strategic Data Enrichment: Lead the initiative to systematically incorporate external market, economic, and industry variables into core reporting, enhancing strategic forecasting, trend analysis, and competitive positioning within the Customer Experience domain.

  • Analytical Transformation & Process: Drive organizational efficiency by establishing and socializing standardized reporting processes and reusable insight templates. Lead regular, high-impact stakeholder review sessions to ensure analytical output directly supports evolving Customer Experience strategies.

  • Advanced Analytics Adoption: Provide strategic direction and governance for the adoption of AI and advanced analytics techniques to automate complex, multi-variable trend analysis, ensuring high utilization and trust across leadership.

  • Trusted Partnership: Serve as the primary strategic insights partner to senior leaders across the Customer Experience organization and other Informatica counterparts, translating data findings into concise, actionable strategic plans and recommendations.

Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of professional experience in Business Insights, Analytics Strategy, Corporate Strategy, or a related role within the technology sector.

  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership or management capacity, focused on influencing and partnering with Senior leaders and/or C-suite executives.

  • Exceptional Business Acumen: Deep understanding of enterprise software business models, key customer metrics (e.g., retention, churn, adoption rates, service efficiency), and the ability to link analytical insights directly to financial and strategic outcomes.

  • Executive Storytelling: Proven ability to synthesize vast amounts of complex data into simple, strategic, and persuasive narratives suitable for an executive audience.

  • Analytical Governance: Strong foundational knowledge of analytical methodologies, predictive modeling, and data visualization best practices, sufficient to critique and guide technical analytics teams.

  • Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated track record of managing complex, cross-functional relationships and effectively prioritizing analytical efforts across competing business demands.

  • Data Proficiency: Experience navigating data environments, understanding SQL concepts, and operating with a major BI visualization platform (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).

  • GenAI Skills: Experience with GenAI Technologies to enhance analytics, automate insights and improve data storytelling is a huge plus

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS) in a quantitative discipline, Finance, or Strategy.

  • Experience operating within a Customer Success, Renewals, or Global Support organization in a large enterprise.

  • Experience building or refining an integrated reporting structure that consolidates metrics from multiple service functions (e.g., Support, Professional Services, Education).

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $164,000 - $261,500 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $196,800 - $285,300 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
