It takes powerful technology to connect our brands and partners with an audience of hundreds of millions of people. Whether you’re looking to write mobile app code, engineer the servers behind our massive ad tech stacks, or develop algorithms to help us process trillions of data points a day, what you do here will have a huge impact on our business—and the world.

A Little About Us

Yahoo’s Central Technology organization brings together the foundational technology capabilities that enable Yahoo to operate, innovate, and scale—spanning infrastructure, shared platforms, enterprise engineering, and company-wide services.

The Strategy & Operations team operates across Central Technology and the Office of the CTO to run the organization as a high-performing business. We connect strategic vision, capital and cloud investments, operational execution, and executive communications so our stakeholders clearly understand what Central Technology is delivering, why it matters, and the measurable business value it creates for Yahoo.

A Lot About You

You are a strategic operator who navigates effortlessly between big-picture strategy and high-impact operational execution. You bring structure to ambiguous problems, develop a clear point of view, and turn strategy into pragmatic plans, governance frameworks, and repeatable operating mechanisms.

You are comfortable partnering directly with C-suite executives while remaining ready to roll up your sleeves to model data and synthesize complex information. You understand how modern, large-scale technology organizations operate across product, engineering, finance, and talent dimensions. You bring an AI-forward mindset, actively identifying opportunities to augment strategic workflows, accelerate organizational intelligence, and automate administrative overhead. Most importantly, you operate as an owner—you see cross-functional disconnects and proactively drive lasting solutions.

You Will
  • Partner closely with the CTO and Central Technology leadership team to translate multi year strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps, clear OKRs/KPIs, and informed investment and resource allocation decisions.

  • Own and continuously optimize core CTO business rhythms (annual/quarterly planning, QBRs, MBRs, executive reviews, and all-hands forums), implementing AI-driven workflows and tools to streamline data consolidation, scenario modeling, and narrative development.

  • Take on ambiguous, high-stakes challenges for the CTO, bringing structured analysis, strategic frameworks, data-backed recommendations, and disciplined execution from problem definition through implementation.

  • Architect and oversee an intelligent, consolidated view of Central Technology performance, operational health, cross-team dependencies, and cloud/infrastructure investments, replacing manual status gathering with automated, AI-assisted reporting pipelines.

  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to refine how Central Technology measures and communicates platform outcomes, ensuring technical debt reduction and architecture roadmaps tie directly to business value.

  • Build trusted relationships with business unit and functional leadership across Yahoo, establishing feedback loops to align shared service delivery with organizational priorities.

  • Partner with Finance and People teams on holistic technology resource planning—including cloud infrastructure budgets, vendor management, capital labor, and cost allocation models—providing executive visibility into spend efficiency and ROI.

  • Translate complex engineering progress, architectural roadmaps, and organizational metrics into clear, high-impact executive narratives and board-ready materials.

  • Champion operational excellence and productivity by piloting and adopting internal AI tools across the Strategy & Operations team, establishing best practices for prompt engineering, document synthesis, and automated tracking.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Strategy & Operations team, operating as a player-coach who balances team leadership with direct ownership of the organization’s highest-priority strategic initiatives.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in strategy and operations, business operations, product operations, management consulting, technology finance, or technical program management within large-scale technology environments.

  • Proven track record partnering directly with C-level, VP, and senior Product and Engineering leaders to guide strategic decisions and drive operational alignment.

  • Demonstrated capability as a player-coach, combining empathetic people leadership with hands-on analytical and narrative-crafting execution.

  • Exceptional strategic, financial, and analytical judgment, with demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous challenges into structured frameworks and decisive recommendations.

  • Proven experience architecting and improving large-scale planning processes, executive business reviews, operational metrics, and governance cadences.

  • Deep financial acumen, including experience with technology budget management, workforce modeling, capital labor, and cloud/infrastructure unit economics.

  • Demonstrated experience using modern AI tools (e.g., generative AI assistants, advanced analytical models) to automate workflows, accelerate research, and produce synthesized executive briefings, combined with the critical judgment to evaluate, refine, and validate AI-generated outputs for strategic accuracy.

  • Exceptional executive-level written, verbal, and visual presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional leaders without formal authority.

Preferred
  • Prior experience operating within an Office of the CTO, Office of the CPO, or Central Technology Operations group in a major internet or enterprise technology company.

  • Experience with technology financial management, including areas such as cloud cost governance, labor capitalization, and chargeback/showback models.

  • Experience designing or implementing automated metrics dashboards and AI-assisted operational tracking systems (e.g., Jira AI, Smartsheet automations, internal LLM tooling).

  • Experience building or maturing product operations and developer productivity measurement programs.
