Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director, UX Design to lead the creation of intuitive, accessible, and impactful digital experiences for enterprise clients. This role combines UX strategy, experience design leadership, client consulting, team management, and hands-on design expertise.
The Director will partner with senior client stakeholders, product leaders, strategists, researchers, designers, and technology teams to translate complex business and customer needs into compelling digital experiences. The ideal candidate brings strong design leadership, a customer-centered mindset, and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams from discovery and research through design and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
UX Strategy & Experience Design
- Define and lead UX and experience design strategies aligned with customer needs and business objectives.
- Translate complex business requirements, customer insights, and technical constraints into intuitive user experiences.
- Lead the development of user journeys, experience maps, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and interaction designs.
- Establish experience principles and design frameworks that create consistent experiences across digital channels.
- Guide teams through discovery, ideation, concept development, prototyping, validation, and implementation.
- Ensure UX solutions balance customer desirability, business viability, and technical feasibility.
Design Leadership
- Provide creative and strategic direction across multiple UX initiatives and client engagements.
- Lead and mentor UX designers, interaction designers, information architects, and other experience design professionals.
- Conduct design reviews and provide actionable feedback to maintain high standards of design quality.
- Establish and promote UX methodologies, standards, tools, and best practices.
- Foster a culture of experimentation, collaboration, customer empathy, and continuous improvement.
User Research & Customer Insights
- Partner with UX Research and Strategy teams to define research objectives and approaches.
- Incorporate qualitative and quantitative customer insights into experience strategy and design decisions.
- Facilitate customer interviews, stakeholder workshops, usability testing, and collaborative design sessions as appropriate.
- Translate research findings into actionable experience opportunities and design recommendations.
- Champion customer-centered decision-making throughout the product and experience lifecycle.
Client & Stakeholder Leadership
- Serve as a senior UX advisor to client executives, product leaders, and business and technology stakeholders.
- Lead client workshops, design presentations, experience reviews, and strategic discussions.
- Clearly articulate design rationale and connect UX decisions to customer and business outcomes.
- Build alignment among stakeholders with competing business, customer, and technology priorities.
- Develop trusted client relationships and identify opportunities to expand experience design partnerships.
Product & Technology Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product Management, Strategy, Engineering, Data, Content, Analytics, and Marketing teams.
- Ensure experience strategies are translated effectively into implementation-ready designs.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical constraints and maintain design quality through development.
- Support agile product teams throughout planning, design, development, testing, and launch.
- Advocate for scalable design systems and reusable experience patterns.
Design Systems & Accessibility
- Provide strategic direction for enterprise design systems, component libraries, and experience standards.
- Promote consistency and scalability across products, platforms, and digital touchpoints.
- Champion inclusive and accessible design, incorporating WCAG and relevant accessibility standards into the design process.
- Ensure experiences meet usability, accessibility, brand, and quality expectations.
AI & Emerging Experiences
- Explore opportunities to use AI and Generative AI to improve customer experiences and design processes.
- Guide the design of AI-enabled experiences, conversational interfaces, intelligent personalization, and emerging interaction models.
- Establish human-centered design principles for responsible and intuitive AI-powered experiences.
- Stay current with emerging UX trends, technologies, methodologies, and customer behaviors.
Business Development & Practice Growth
- Partner with account and business development teams to identify and shape new UX and experience design opportunities.
- Contribute to proposals, RFP responses, pitches, estimations, and client presentations.
- Support the development of UX offerings, methodologies, frameworks, and thought leadership.
- Help define engagement approaches, team structures, scopes, and delivery models for complex experience programs.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience leading UX strategy and design for large-scale digital products, platforms, or enterprise transformation programs.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in UX strategy, interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, and customer-centered design.
- Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring senior designers and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong understanding of design thinking, user-centered design, usability, accessibility, responsive design, and design systems.
- Experience working closely with product, engineering, strategy, research, and business teams.
- Strong proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, particularly Figma and FigJam.
- Experience presenting design strategy and recommendations to senior and executive-level stakeholders.
- Strong facilitation, storytelling, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively across multiple engagements in a fast-paced consulting or enterprise environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within digital consulting, design consulting, digital agencies, or professional services organizations.
- Experience designing enterprise-scale web, mobile, commerce, healthcare, or customer experience platforms.
- Strong understanding of WCAG and accessibility best practices.
- Experience building or governing enterprise design systems.
- Familiarity with personalization, analytics, experimentation, and data-driven experience optimization.
- Experience designing AI-powered or conversational experiences.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interaction Design, HCI, UX Design, Graphic Design, Human Factors, or a related discipline.
Information Security Responsibilities
- Promote and enforce awareness of key information security practices, including acceptable use of information assets, malware protection, and password security protocols
- Identify, assess, and report security risks, focusing on how these risks impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets
- Understand and evaluate how data is stored, processed, or transmitted, ensuring compliance with data privacy and protection standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
- Ensure data protection measures are integrated throughout the information lifecycle to safeguard sensitive information
