EHS Manager

Huntsman is seeking an EHS Manager supporting the EHS Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the Americas Regional EHS Manager.

Job Scope  

The EHS Manager is a key member of the Site Leadership Team responsible for driving safety excellence, operational performance, and organizational capability. This role provides environmental, health, and safety leadership while partnering with operational leaders, corporate Centers of Excellence, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to support regulatory compliance, emergency response, risk management, continuous improvement, and Huntsman's commitment to Zero Harm.

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership & Site Influence

  • Serve as a key member of the Conroe Site Leadership Team, helping shape site strategy, operational priorities, and business decisions.
  • Lead the site's environmental, health, and safety functions to ensure alignment with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture that drives employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the primary advisor to Site Leadership on all matters related to EHS, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.

EHS & Regulatory Excellence

  • Lead the implementation and oversight of environmental, health, and safety programs that protect employees, assets, and the surrounding community.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and occupational safety regulations.
  • Evaluate emerging regulatory requirements and industry trends, developing strategies that minimize risk and operational disruption.
  • Partner with Huntsman's EHS Centers of Excellence to strengthen site-wide EHS performance.

Operational & Emergency Preparedness Leadership

  • Direct site emergency response, business continuity, security, and evacuation planning programs.
  • Coordinate relationships with local emergency response agencies, including fire departments, HazMat teams, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure Emergency Response Team (ERT) readiness through planning, training, drills, and continuous capability development.
  • Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation strategies across manufacturing operations.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a team of environmental, health, and safety professionals while fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, succession planning, and professional development for direct reports.
  • Influence leaders across all levels of the organization to embed EHS ownership into daily operations.

Business & Financial Management

  • Own EHS operating, staffing, and capital budgets, ensuring investments are effectively prioritized and managed.
  • Partner with operational leaders to balance safety, compliance, reliability, and profitability objectives.
  • Support hiring, workforce planning, compensation recommendations, and resource allocation for the EHS organization.

Qualifications  

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. 
 
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline with 10+ years of EHS, Process Safety, and manufacturing experience in a chemical, petrochemical, refining, or other high-hazard industrial environment.
  • 4+ years of experience leading and developing EHS or technical teams, with accountability for talent management, organizational effectiveness, and team performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders to drive safety excellence, operational performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading site-wide EHS strategy, regulatory compliance, risk management, and emergency response programs within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong people leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic business acumen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, REM, or equivalent.
  • Experience within chemical manufacturing or highly regulated industrial environments.
  • Previous engagement with emergency response organizations and regulatory agencies.
