Reports to: Marketing Manager, Email & SMS

Location: Remote, US

About the Role

Sur La Table is looking for an Email & SMS Specialist to own the end-to-end lifecycle of email and SMS campaigns — from calendaring and creative build through testing, deployment, and performance analysis. This role sits at the intersection of brand marketing, CRM, and e-commerce, ensuring every send is on-brand, on-time, and driving measurable engagement.

As Email & SMS Specialist, you will be the go-to expert on audience segmentation, campaign optimization, and AI-driven workflow improvements. Within the first six months, you will have full ownership of the campaign calendar, established A/B testing cadences that move key metrics, and introduced at least one new AI-powered process that helps the team scale during peak periods.

This is a lean team. You will own a lot, move fast, and make decisions with full end-to-end responsibility.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the email and SMS campaign creation process from start to finish — template creation, image slicing, creative placement, audience selection, QA, and deployment.
  • Partner with Brand Marketing, Creative, and Merchandising teams on day-to-day execution of email and SMS sends.
  • Build and maintain the monthly email and SMS calendar, aligning promotions and content to drive engagement.
  • Manage the daily quality assurance process with stakeholders across partnerships, branding, and creative to ensure on-time delivery and accuracy.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key metrics (open rates, click-through rates, conversions) and identify trends to optimize performance.
  • Design and execute A/B tests on subject lines, copy, send times, and creative to improve engagement.
  • Lead adoption of AI tools across the campaign workflow — drafting copy, segmentation, QA, and reporting — and pilot new tools that help the team scale during high-volume periods while preserving Sur La Table's voice.
  • Partner with the Analytics/CRM team to deepen audience segmentation expertise and integrate customer insights into campaign strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR, and other applicable email marketing regulations.
  • Stay current on email and SMS marketing trends, tools, and best practices, and drive process improvements across teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on email marketing experience.
  • Proven experience using generative AI tools or AI features within email/SMS platforms to improve productivity and results.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate campaign data into actionable recommendations.
  • Familiarity with email marketing regulations (CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
  • Curiosity and willingness to experiment, paired with sound judgment about where human review and brand voice matter most.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Emarsys, Wunderkind, Google Analytics, Heap, Adobe Suite, or Canva.
  • HTML and CSS email coding experience.
  • Retail or e-commerce industry experience.
  • Passion for the culinary industry and an affinity for the Sur La Table brand.

Why Join

The people who do best here are builders. They take ownership, move fast, and want to see the direct impact of their work.

  • Cross-Functional Impact: Your campaigns reach customers across every channel — you will work closely with brand, merchandising, CRM, and ecommerce teams and see the results of your work in real time.
  • Skill Building: Develop deep expertise in AI-driven marketing workflows, advanced segmentation, and modern email/SMS platforms while growing your career in digital marketing.
  • Ownership: Own the full campaign lifecycle from strategy to send, with the autonomy to experiment, optimize, and ship.
  • Competitive Benefits: Paid time off policies, 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision and a variety of supplemental policies, and employee discounts across our portfolio of brands.
