Serverfarm is seeking an experienced Energy & Sustainability Manager who will primarily support the Operations, Product, Development, and Real Estate Teams. You will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and reporting energy and utility resources across a diverse portfolio of data center facilities. This role ensures energy procurement, efficiency, and sustainability objectives are achieved through a combination of strategic sourcing, PUE performance analysis, and operational excellence. You will also play a key role in supporting corporate sustainability goals through effective energy hedging, carbon reduction initiatives, and robust utility data management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Validate meter, BMS/EPMS and utility data on a monthly basis, working with site teams to identifydata gaps and suspected meter faults.
  • Work with the reporting platform team (InCommand) to calculate, validate and report PUE and other operational sustainability metrics across the portfolio using recognized methodologies, and explain variances to Operations leadership.
  • Prepare energy-related sustainability reporting to support customer, board and external sustainability data requests.
  • Support energy hedging by providing consumption forecasts and load data, and tracking hedged volumes against actual usage.
  • Track and report renewable energy use, REC volumes, and other low-carbon solutions, supporting customer reporting and company carbon reduction and net-zero goals.
  • Oversee utility performance, including billing validation against consumption, flagging discrepancies and investigating anomalies.
  • Keep up to date with energy markets, tariffs, and regulatory developments that inform procurement, and sustainability disclosures.
  • Collaborate with Operations Engineering and site teams to identify and track efficiency improvements and implement best practices in energy management.
  • Support compliance with ISO 50001 and other client or regulatory requirements while developing reporting tools and dashboards to track cost, consumption, and performance across the portfolio.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years in an energy management, energy analyst, or sustainability reporting role, ideally within datacenters, critical facilities or similar industries.
  • Strong analytical background with hands-on experience in PUE analysis, energy data interpretation,and benchmarking performance.
  • Working knowledge of BMS/EPMS and metering systems, and practical understanding of HVAC, cooling, and electrical distribution in a data center or critical facility environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills, experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI).
  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to data quality, with the confidence to challenge numbers that don’t look right.
  • Proven track record dealing with complex data issues and managing multiple stakeholders to get to root cause.
  • Skilled in energy and sustainability reporting, including Scope 1–3 emissions, PUE and WUE.
  • Understanding of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems or similar frameworks.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage recurring reporting cycles and multiple workstreams.
  • Basic understanding of energy hedging and utility contracts helpful.
  • Relevant qualifications in Energy, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Professional certification or membership (e.g. AEE Certified Energy Manager (CEM), CIBSE, Energy Institute, or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Role involves some travel (approximately 10-20%)
