Job Description:

DXC Technology is a leading enterprise technology and innovation partner delivering software, services, and solutions to global enterprises and public sector organizations — helping them harness AI to drive outcomes at a time of exponential change with speed. With deep expertise in Managed Infrastructure Services, Application Modernization, and Industry-Specific Software Solutions, DXC modernizes, secures, and operates some of the world's most complex technology estates.

DXC's Insurance Software and BPS (ISB) helps insurers around the world modernize and run their core operations at scale by combining deep industry expertise, proven software platforms, and innovative AI-driven solutions. A global market leader in core insurance platforms, ISB delivers solutions across policy administration, claims, billing, analytics, and digital engagement, supporting Life & Annuity, Property & Casualty, and Specialty insurance markets. You’ll directly contribute to how the world's leading insurers operate by helping transform and maintain the technology environments that support critical business operations.

We are looking for a ServiceNow Smart Apps Architect to provide technical leadership for the design and development of innovative applications built on ServiceNow Financial Services Operations (FSO) and the Assure Platform.

In this role, you will shape the architecture and technical direction of Smart Apps, creating scalable, secure, reusable, and upgradeable solutions that support insurance business processes. You will work closely with product, engineering, security, cloud operations, enterprise architecture, and customer delivery teams to turn business and technology strategies into practical solutions.

You will play a key role in defining how Smart Apps use ServiceNow capabilities, workflow automation, APIs, events, integrations, and enterprise data platforms to deliver modern digital experiences for insurance customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own Smart App architecture: Define the target architecture for Assure Smart Apps across ServiceNow FSO, the Assure Platform, Assure Orchestration, Insurance Services, integrations, data services, and insurance administration applications.
  • Establish reusable platform patterns: Create reference designs, guardrails, shared components, and standards that promote consistency, reuse, tenant isolation, security, and upgradeability. This includes reusable patterns for ServiceNow Workflow Data Fabric, governed data products, APIs, events, messaging, and enterprise integration.
  • Apply ServiceNow FSO effectively: Determine where native FSO capabilities, scoped application components, workflow services, configuration, or Assure-specific extensions should be used for insurance use cases.
  • Design workflow-enabled experiences: Guide responsive user experiences, workflows, approvals, orchestration flows, events, notifications, and API interactions so Smart Apps deliver controlled business outcomes.
  • Define integration and data patterns: Establish how Smart Apps consume governed data products, invoke transactional APIs, and integrate with events, messaging, ServiceNow Workflow Data Fabric, and enterprise data platforms. Define when APIs, data products, events, IoT technologies, pipelines, change data capture, federation, and approved connectors are the appropriate integration pattern.
  • Govern data products and schema evolution: Define how Smart Apps consume governed data products and how customer schema, feed, event, and metadata changes are detected, governed, and incorporated without tightly coupling Smart Apps to individual customer implementations.
  • Govern DevOps and environment promotion: Define source control, branching, automated testing, configuration capture, approval workflows, rollback practices, and release traceability across environments.
  • Lead architecture governance: Run design reviews, document decisions, manage exceptions, represent Smart Apps in governance forums, and ensure adherence to ServiceNow, Assure, security, and SaaS standards.
  • Enable delivery execution: Translate architecture into implementation guidance, acceptance criteria, reference implementations, backlog direction, and reusable templates that engineering teams can execute.
  • Mentor and influence teams: Coach architects and engineers, review critical designs, promote approved patterns, and build shared understanding across product, platform, delivery, and operations teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Enterprise architecture experience: Substantial experience designing enterprise applications, SaaS solutions, or complex software platforms across the full delivery lifecycle.
  • ServiceNow architecture expertise: Demonstrated experience architecting scoped applications, workflow-driven solutions, reusable components, and release practices on ServiceNow.
  • ServiceNow FSO knowledge: Working knowledge of ServiceNow Financial Services Operations and how to apply its data, process, and experience capabilities to insurance-oriented applications.
  • Layered platform design: Ability to design across ServiceNow, Assure Orchestration, Insurance Services, the Assure Platform, and core insurance administration applications.
  • Integration and experience architecture: Experience designing responsive interfaces, REST APIs, webhooks, event-driven patterns, governed data products, data synchronization, ServiceNow Workflow Data Fabric integrations, security protocols, error handling, and observability.
  • DevOps and automation: Experience with Git-based source control, automated pipelines, configuration promotion, testing, approvals, rollback, and release traceability.
  • Multi-tenant security: Knowledge of tenant isolation, RBAC, identity federation, OAuth, SAML, OIDC, encryption, secrets management, privacy, audit, and least-privilege design.
  • Communication and leadership: Ability to explain architecture clearly to executives, customers, architects, engineers, and operational teams while driving decisions across organizational boundaries.
  • Education or equivalent experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServiceNow certifications: ServiceNow CSA, CAD, Certified Application Architect, Certified Technical Architect, or comparable credentials are preferred.
  • Insurance domain experience: Experience with policy, billing, claims, servicing, regulatory, or financial services operations will help connect platform architecture to business outcomes.
  • ServiceNow development tooling: Experience with App Engine Studio, Studio, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, UI Builder, Automated Test Framework, Application Repository, source control integration, and update governance is preferred.
  • Infrastructure and deployment automation: Knowledge of Terraform, scripting, pipeline orchestration, platform provisioning, and environment configuration automation is beneficial.
  • Cloud-native architecture: Experience with API management, microservices, event platforms, containers, identity services, monitoring, and resilient cloud design is beneficial.
  • AI and automation awareness: Ability to evaluate and incorporate AI, automation, analytics, and agentic workflow capabilities where they provide measurable business value.
