As an Event Manager, you will focus on the successful execution of Cengage events (in-person and virtual) with a focus on exceptional customer experience. Working with multiple partners across the organization, you will ensure that each event aligns with company marketing objectives and goals. This position will share event planning best practices with internal colleagues.

What you'll do:
  • Provide comprehensive event logistical expertise to collaborators from planning through event execution and follow-up
  • Project manage all event (tradeshow, Cengage hosted & virtual) deliverables from launch through execution, including post event follow-up
  • Negotiate vendor agreements and complete all contractual deliverables with hotels, restaurants, decorating companies, exhibit houses, and AV partners required for each event
  • Track and manage all event-related expenses to ensure adherence to budget guidelines to optimize value.
  • Support and collaborate with all Events team members throughout the year on events and department projects
Based on project, specific duties could include:
  • Site research & selection for hotels & restaurants to host Cengage live events
  • Setting up all virtual event needs including webinar platform and registration site as well as calendar invitations for rehearsals and event day
  • Optimizing the deployment of Cengage tradeshow assets and rented equipment to align with the specific objectives and engagement strategies of each conference
  • Managing group air travel & ground transportation manifests
  • Crafting and managing online registration platforms, lead capture and mobile apps, ensuring accurate attendee data handling and full compliance with ethical standards and government regulations
  • Coordinating and communicating logistics to internal and external partners including post-event surveys
  • Partnering with other Events staff to complete larger scale events as a team
  • Travel to Events to provide onsite management as needed
Skills You Will Need Here:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a highly dynamic and rapidly evolving environment
  • Outstanding project management skills with utmost attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask to meet deadlines, without breaking a sweat
  • Capability to work autonomously—and with a sense of urgency
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Requires proficiency with Zoom, MS Office and Office 365 and proficiency in Excel
  • 3-5 years involved in planning events and tradeshows including 1-2 years specifically in virtual event planning
  • 3-5 years of experience negotiating contracts
  • BA/BS Degree or Related Work Experience of 3+ years
  • Experience with Event Technology (Cvent or similar) and Project Management Technology (Workfront or similar)
  • Ability to travel 6-8 times per year

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

$59,700.00 - $95,700.00 USD
