Joist is a B2B SaaS platform built for the trades, helping contractors and home service professionals run their businesses more efficiently — from estimates and invoicing to payments and client communication. We operate across Web, iOS, and Android, and are scaling a fast-growing acquisition and monetization engine that spans new customer acquisition, payments adoption, plan upgrades, and add-ons.
We're looking for a Growth Marketing Manager to own growth strategy and performance for Joist's new customer acquisition engine — stepping into a critical role on our marketing leadership team. This person will own a significant paid media investment, set the strategy for full-funnel growth in a product led environment (traffic → signup → paid conversion) across Web, iOS, and Android, and act as the primary partner to our internal paid media team on execution.
This role also acts as a connective hub for our growth-adjacent functions — partnering closely with SEO and Analytics — and will have shared oversight of both functions as they relate to the growth roadmap. This is a strategic and hands-on role: you'll set the direction, but you'll also be in the data, in the campaigns, and in the details.
Responsibilities:
Growth Strategy & Paid Media Ownership
Own the strategy and performance for new customer acquisition, including a multi million dollar annual media investment across paid social, paid search, display, affiliate/partnerships, and emerging channels
Act as the primary strategic partner and day-to-day point of contact with our internal paid media team, setting priorities, budget allocation, and channel mix
Build and own the quarterly/annual growth plan across Web, iOS, and Android, balancing new traffic generation, traffic-to-signup conversion, and signup-to-paid conversion
Monitor CAC, conversion rates, pacing, and channel-level ROI, proactively identifying risks and reallocating investment to maximize efficient growth
Forecasting & Channel Orchestration
Own new customer acquisition forecasting, building and maintaining forecasts for traffic, signup, and paid conversion by channel and platform
Work closely with internal subject matter experts across each channel (paid social, paid search, SEO, app store/ASO, and others) to orchestrate a coordinated, optimized growth machine — ensuring channels are working together toward shared goals rather than in silos
Bring strong testing discipline to the funnel, prioritizing and sequencing experiments across channels and platforms to drive continuous, compounding improvement
Analytics Partnership & Measurement
Work closely with Analytics to ensure Joist has the proper measurement and instrumentation in place to accurately track funnel performance across Web, iOS, and Android
Partner with the Growth Analyst on dashboards and reporting infrastructure that support forecasting accuracy and channel-level decision-making
Oversight of SEO & Growth Analytics
Provide strategic direction and shared oversight for our SEO Lead, ensuring organic strategy is tightly aligned with paid strategy and the overall growth roadmap
Provide strategic direction and shared oversight for our Growth Analyst, ensuring funnel reporting, dashboards, and measurement infrastructure keep pace with the needs of the growth strategy
Note: SEO and Analytics functionally sit within Paid Media and Analytics teams respectively, but are dedicated to supporting Joist's growth strategy — this role directs their prioritization on Joist-related work
Reporting & Executive Communication
Translate performance data into clear insights, recommendations, and forward-looking strategy for the Head of Marketing and broader leadership team
Own reporting on new customer acquisition performance across all three platforms, including regular business reviews
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Product Marketing (SaaS and Payments) to ensure growth strategy reflects current positioning and incorporates new feature and product launches
Coordinate with Customer Marketing/Lifecycle team to ensure a seamless handoff between acquisition and post-signup lifecycle/onboarding campaigns
Represent growth/paid performance in marketing leadership discussions and planning cycles
Skills and Experience needed for success in this role:
6+ years of experience in growth marketing, performance marketing, or digital marketing, with meaningful experience owning a significant paid media budget ($10M+ preferred), ideally in B2B SaaS
Proven track record setting and executing acquisition strategy, not just managing campaigns — comfortable owning a growth plan and being accountable for its results
Strong experience partnering with (or directly managing) internal or agency paid media teams to translate strategy into flawless execution
Strong track record owning acquisition/growth forecasting and translating forecasts into channel-level plans
Strong testing discipline — experience building and prioritizing a cross-channel experimentation roadmap
Comfortable working across multiple platforms (Web, iOS, Android) and understanding the nuances of each (e.g., app store dynamics, mobile attribution)
Strong analytical skills; fluent in interpreting funnel and channel data, comfortable in tools like GA4, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar
Experience directing or closely partnering with SEO and analytics functions, even without formal management authority
Excellent stakeholder management — able to influence and align teams that don't report directly to this role
Strong executive communicator, able to translate performance data into clear strategy and narratives for senior leadership
Self-starter who is comfortable stepping into an established growth engine and quickly building credibility with cross-functional partners
Nice to Have
Experience in payments, fintech, or subscription/usage-based monetization models
Experience with mobile app growth/ASO
Familiarity with lifecycle/CRM platforms (e.g., Braze) and how acquisition and lifecycle marketing intersect
