Description

Ledgebrook is an InsurTech MGA on a mission to bring Specialty insurance into the modern era. Burdened with legacy technology and processes, the industry has not kept pace with the speed of innovation seen in other sectors. Positioned at the cutting edge of the next generation of InsurTech, Ledgebrook offers the best of both worlds: innovative world-class technology deployed by a leadership team armed with over 100 years of insurance expertise. At Ledgebrook, everything we do is driven by our culture: Care, Strive, Thrive Together. To succeed in modernizing the industry, we must first succeed in changing the way we do business. Talent density is our north star—fewer, better people working together as one. To that end we’ve replaced all individual incentives with generous equity packages—we play as a team, we win as a team. Everyone benefits handsomely from Ledgebrook’s success. Ledgebrook is a fully-remote US based company backed by top venture investors and US family offices.

Timeline: Summer 2026 | 10–12 Weeks | Remote

About the Role

This is not a traditional finance internship. You will not spend your summer building slide decks or auditing expense reports. You will spend it researching, designing, and deploying AI-powered solutions that make the Ledgebrook Finance team faster, more accurate, and more scalable. Working directly with our FP&A and Accounting teams, you will map high-friction workflows and build practical automations using large language models, agentic tooling, and scripting. You will leave with real deliverables in production, not a presentation about what could have been built. This role sits at the intersection of finance and applied AI. We’re looking for someone who is excited to learn, curious about how finance teams work, and interested in using AI tools to solve practical business problems. You do not need to have done this in a full-time role before—coursework, university projects, hackathons, or personal experimentation with tools like Claude, GPT, or similar all count.

What You’ll Work On

  • Audit current Finance workflows across FP&A and Accounting (variance analysis, reporting, close processes, data reconciliation) to identify and prioritize AI automation opportunities
  • Design and prototype agentic workflows that reduce manual effort in recurring tasks such as variance commentary, management report generation, and data pulls from source systems
  • Build and test prompt engineering solutions using frontier LLMs (Claude, GPT-4, or similar) to generate accurate, structured financial outputs
  • Evaluate and implement tooling appropriate to each use case, including LLM APIs, Python-based automation scripts, and workflow orchestration frameworks
  • Work alongside the Finance and Accounting team to validate outputs, refine logic, and ensure solutions fit real operational needs
  • Document all builds clearly and completely so that solutions remain maintainable after the internship ends
  • Present your work, findings, and recommendations to executive leadership on a regular basis
About you

We’re looking for people to join us with:

  • A builder’s mindset: you have explored AI tools beyond basic chat use, whether through coursework, side projects, hackathons, or personal experiments
  • Interest in finance: you are curious about how budgets, reporting, and business performance work, and want to apply that interest in a real company setting
  • Basic Python or technical comfort: you can work with scripts, spreadsheets, or structured data and are willing to learn new tools quickly
  • Problem-solving instincts: you like breaking problems into steps and testing practical solutions
  • Resourcefulness: you are comfortable figuring things out, asking thoughtful questions, and learning as you go
  • Clear communication: you can explain your thinking clearly to both technical and non-technical teammates
  • A collaborative working style: you enjoy working with others, receiving feedback, and contributing as part of a team
Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Some exposure to AI tools, automation, coding, or data analysis through coursework, student projects, internships, hackathons, or personal projects
  • Basic working knowledge of Python, Excel, or similar tools used for analysis and problem-solving
  • Interest in financial concepts such as budgets, reporting, variance analysis, or accounting fundamentals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to learn quickly and work well with others
  • Ability to manage your time, stay organized, and work independently in a remote environment
  • Prior insurance, fintech, or full-time industry experience is not required. We care more about curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn
Benefits
  • Competitive paid stipend
  • Fully remote with flexible scheduling
  • Real ownership over projects that ship, not just presentations
  • Direct access to and mentorship from Finance leadership
  • A front-row seat to how a modern InsurTech MGA operates and scales

At Ledgebrook, we’re building something truly special. If you come alive at the intersection of finance and technology, want real ownership over your summer, and want to be part of a team that cares, strives, and thrives together, we’d love to hear from you.
