As a Software Engineer II at JPMorganChase within the Payments Technology, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role. 
Job responsibilities
  • Develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions that meet business and technical requirements across the full software development lifecycle
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in one or more modern programming languages, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices
  • Participate in design and code reviews, providing and incorporating constructive feedback to continuously improve code quality and team practices
  • Contribute to the reliability and stability of production systems by identifying, debugging, and resolving technical issues in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including product, architecture, and operations — to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Apply Agile methodologies and contribute to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to support continuous delivery and iterative improvement
  • Leverage enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate coding, testing, and documentation workflows while critically evaluating AI-generated outputs
  • Support the implementation of CI/CD pipelines, security practices, and application resiliency standards to ensure robust and secure software delivery
  • Engage with modern technical domains such as cloud, AI/ML, and containerization to broaden technical capabilities and contribute to platform modernization efforts 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations
  • Hands-on experience across system design, application development, testing, and production/operational stability
  • Strong coding skills in one or more modern programming languages
  • Proven ability to develop, debug, and maintain enterprise-scale code, including database querying, with a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and end-to-end delivery
  • Practical experience with Agile ways of working, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security practices, with exposure to modern technical domains such as cloud, AI/ML, and/or mobile and their supporting technical processes
  • Pragmatic mindset to drive technical re-engineering and modernization while continuing to support business delivery
     

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (such as Java or Python) for automation and process improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience resolving complex technical issues
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools, and a solid understanding of metrics and system health indicators
  • Understanding of reliability engineering principles, including automation and incident management
