At Skyways, we are building a new form of air transportation—what some call the flying car. Backed by fresh funding and a major STRATFI contract from the U.S. Air Force, we’re uniquely positioned to lead the next wave of aviation innovation. Our fully autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) represent a breakthrough opportunity to move goods—and soon, people—in ways that are faster, safer, and more efficient than ever before. Unlike anyone else in the industry, our strategy blends rapid iteration with real-world deployment, and it’s already paying off.
Skyways is a fast-growing startup based in Austin, TX, supported by top Silicon Valley investors including Y Combinator. Though we’re early-stage, our vehicles are already in production and in the hands of paying commercial customers (see here and here). With robust financial backing and government partnerships accelerating our momentum, there’s never been a better time to join us and help build the future of transportation!
The Opportunity
We plan to launch our internship program in 2026. Interns at Skyways will work alongside engineers, operators, and builders on meaningful projects in areas such as mechanical design, composites, software development, flight testing, and operations. If you are excited about Skyways and want to be considered once internships open, send us your resume, portfolio, or even a short note about what you would love to work on. We will keep your information on file and reach out when opportunities go live.
Who You Might Be:
- An engineering student who wants to see your designs fly.
- A builder or maker who thrives on hands-on work and autonomy.
- A coder who loves robotics, autonomy, or flight systems.
- An operator who wants to learn how to scale a fast-moving startup.
- Above all, someone who loves hard problems and wants to help make the future real.
Why Join Skyways:
- Real technology with real customers. Our aircraft fly missions today.
- Small team with big ownership. Every person shapes the product and culture.
- Mission driven. We believe autonomy in the air will transform how civilization moves.
- Learn by doing. Your projects will touch actual aircraft, not just paper studies.
