Global Category Manager – Steel & Non-Ferrous Metals

Global Category Manager – Steel & Non-Ferrous Metals positions offered by ABB Installation Products Inc. (An ABB Company) (Plano, Texas).  Responsible for establishing and executing category strategies to enable best Quality, Service, Technology and Pricing for category, while managing an annual spend of approx. $250 million. Lead category team to drive strategies towards achieving Key Performance Indicators established for the category such as cost reduction, improving average payment terms with suppliers, reducing sole sourced spend, improving quality and fulfillment from supply base. Plan and drive the achievement of annual savings and cash improvement targets by division and plants (by way of identification and leading various sourcing initiatives & projects). Drive projects and initiatives in service management and improvement in On-Time Delivery from suppliers for all plants. Negotiate agreements with suppliers to optimize inventory, quality, cost, and obtain best terms & conditions for ABB.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in engineering, business or supply chain management or a related field and 7 years of experience in the position offered or 7 years of experience performing supply chain management or sourcing activities in support of an entity’s supply chain. Also requires 5 years of experience: performing category management; using the MS-Office applications including Word, Power Point and excel (pivot tables and Vlook-ups); creating commodity strategies ensuring quality, service and cost competitive supply base; performing procurement and materials management including identifying cost drivers, world demand and supply for the following commodities: steel, copper, aluminum, and zinc; negotiating procurement contracts; and commuting across teams and presenting to stakeholders and clients. Requires 3 years of experience performing project management including change management. Position reports to Plano, TX office. Telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy, but must live within commuting distance of stated office.  Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
