About the Role:
Wing is looking for a Head of Global Policy to join our Government & Aviation Affairs team. This role is based Remotely in the US or Hybrid in Washington, D.C. or Arlington, VA.
This executive-level position will lead Wing’s global policy development and thought leadership, reporting to the Director of Global Policy, Government & Community Affairs. This leader is responsible for creating the foundational policy frameworks that will enable scalable, autonomous, and safe drone delivery around the world. This role will develop and execute a comprehensive global policy strategy, engaging with international standards bodies and national regulators to shape the rules for this new era of aviation. The successful candidate is a proven policy strategist with deep intellectual curiosity who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are looking for an intrinsically driven leader who can manage a global team of experts, navigate complex, first-principles policy debates (e.g., UTM, privacy, safety cases), and work cross-functionally to align Wing’s technical roadmap with its global public policy goals.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and execute Wing’s comprehensive global policy strategy, creating scalable, principles-based frameworks for new and existing markets
- Lead and mentor a global team of policy professionals, fostering a culture of intellectual rigor, collaboration, and strategic impact
- Serve as Wing’s primary policy representative and thought leader in global forums (e.g., ICAO, JARUS) and with national aviation authorities (e.g., EASA, CASA, FAA)
- Author and oversee the development of authoritative white papers, public comments, and presentations on complex policy issues, including Uncrewed Traffic Management (UTM), Detect and Avoid (DAA), safety case methodologies (e.g., SORA), privacy, and sustainability
- Collaborate closely with internal partners, including U.S. Federal & State Affairs, regional Government Affairs leads, Regulatory, Legal, Product, and Engineering, to ensure a unified and consistent global policy position
- Translate complex technical concepts and safety architectures into clear, compelling, and accessible policy language for regulators and public audiences
- Advise Wing’s senior leadership on international policy developments, long-term regulatory trends, and strategic opportunities to shape the global operating environment
- Manage relationships with academic, think tank, and industry partners to build coalitions and amplify Wing's policy priorities
What You’ll Need:
- 15+ years of relevant experience in global public policy, with a focus on aviation, transportation, or emerging technology
- 7+ years of experience managing high-performing, globally-distributed policy teams
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; an advanced degree (e.g., JD, MPP, MPA, PhD) is strongly preferred
- Proven experience developing and executing multi-country policy strategies and successfully shaping novel regulatory frameworks for a new industry
- Deep, substantive expertise in global aviation policy, including familiarity with international standards bodies (ICAO, JARUS) and key national regulators (EASA, FAA, etc.)
- A demonstrable network of relationships with international regulators, industry-shaping academics, and technology policy organizations
- Exceptional analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills, with a public record of authoring influential policy documents or analysis
- Ability and willingness to travel, including internationally, as needed to perform job duties
