About Base

Base is building the foundation of American power. The grid is the largest, most complex machine in the world. Yet it’s aging, struggling to keep up with today’s demand, and is unprepared for our electrified future.

Base is modernizing the grid as the first engineering-led, technology-driven power company. We’re deploying a nationwide network of distributed batteries that strengthens critical infrastructure and saves Americans money.

Our team of engineers, operators, creatives, technicians, and electricians design and deploy systems at speed. If you want to tackle the problem that will define this century and shape the future of American energy, now is the time. Join us.

About the Role

As HR Generalist at Base, you’ll play a critical role in building and scaling the systems that support our team as we modernize the American power grid. You’ll work closely with leadership to design, implement, and improve core HR processes—from onboarding and performance management to benefits and employee engagement. This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving, in-person environment where precision, ownership, and adaptability are key. You'll be a trusted partner to employees and leadership alike, ensuring our People practices are as bold and effective as the mission we're pursuing.

What You’ll Do

  • Support in configuring and administering key HR systems (Rippling and Carta).

  • Working closely with leadership, design and launch the company’s annual performance reviews.

  • Conduct an annual benefits market assessment, budgeting, and evaluation with insurance brokers.

  • Administer pulse surveys of company and teams to assess engagement and culture to drive HR improvements as Base scales.

  • Design and own an improved system for employee onboarding and offboarding.

  • Front line of defense for employees for HR administrative questions.

  • Create and own HR annual training calendar.

  • Be an alternate point of contact for sensitive HR issues and employee relations.

What You'll Bring

  • Relevant experience in HR with an emphasis on onboarding/offboarding, performance reviews, and HR administration and project management.

  • A customer service mindset for supporting Base employees while remaining closely aligned with the needs and expectations of the company.

  • A hunger to own more, building processes, running them and then automating to build the next one.

  • Experience using an HRIS (bonus points for Rippling experience).

Our Values

We’re building a winning culture and we’re looking for people who are up for the challenge. Here’s what we expect from day one:

  • In-Person Only: We work full-time in the office. No hybrid. No remote.

  • Challenge the Status Quo: Question assumptions. Fix broken systems. Principles > rules.

  • Move Fast: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble. Challenge ideas–including your own.

  • Own the Outcome: Take full responsibility. Deliver results. No excuses.

  • Act Like an Owner: Be resourceful, mindful of impact, and committed to the business.

  • Be Decisive: Drive clarity. Make bold calls with imperfect info.

  • Bring the Intensity: This is not a 9-to-5. We're building something hard which requires real commitment.
