Job Summary & Responsibilities

Steel Partners Holdings L.P. is a global diversified holding company with operations spanning diversified industrial products, energy, defense, supply chain management and logistics, banking, and youth sports. Founded in 1990 by Warren G. Lichtenstein, Steel Partners has grown from a small private investment partnership into a $2 billion enterprise with approximately 5,200 employees across 90 locations in 14 countries. In January 2026, Steel Partners returned to being a privately held, family-owned company, continuing its long-term, values-driven approach to ownership and operations.

We work with our companies to increase long-term value for all stakeholders. Everything we do is guided by The Steel Way, our operating philosophy and cultural foundation. The Steel Way defines how we lead, how we operate, and how we grow, uniting our people across every business unit and industry around a common purpose: building exceptional businesses that stand the test of time by developing exceptional people.

The Steel Way is built on five pillars. Our Kids First purpose reflects our belief that people perform best when they are developed, supported, and challenged to succeed. While rooted in youth sports, Kids First inspires how we invest in the growth and development of all people, including our employees, leaders, coaches, and communities. Our Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, and Commitment guide our decisions and actions every day. The Steel Business System drives operational excellence and continuous improvement across our companies. The Steel Coaching System helps leaders develop people through meaningful conversations, observations, and participation. And Steel Grow reflects our commitment to recruiting, retaining, and rewarding talented people while creating opportunities for learning, advancement, and leadership development throughout their careers.

Together, these pillars create a culture focused on long-term success, accountability, learning, and continuous improvement. They provide a common framework that connects our businesses, strengthens our teams, and helps us create lasting value for employees, customers, communities, and shareholders.

Over the past 36 years, Steel Partners has evolved from a private investment fund into a diversified global holding company. While our businesses have grown and changed, our philosophy remains the same: persistence and hard work are the cornerstones of any great organization. With purpose, passion, and perseverance, great things can happen.

The Role

Steel Partners is seeking a curious, detail-oriented HRIS Analyst & Operations Specialist to join our HR Technology & Operations team. This is a foundational role for someone early in their career who is excited about the intersection of human resources, technology, and applied artificial intelligence.

The HRIS Analyst & Operations Specialist will serve as a first point of contact for our HR technology and HR operations support mailbox, keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly, while also helping design and deploy AI-driven automations that eliminate manual, repetitive work. A defining feature of this role is scalability: the solutions built should be repeatable and portable, so that an automation created for one operating company can be rolled out across any additional OpCo with minimal rework.

Responsibilities

HR Technology & Operations

  • Enter, update, and audit employee data in the HRIS System (new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, and organizational changes), ensuring accuracy and consistency, and supporting core HR operational processes such as employee data changes, onboarding and offboarding, reporting, audits, and compliance tasks
  • Support system configuration changes, testing, and validation under the guidance of senior team members
  • Own and manage the HR technology and HR operations support mailbox, triaging incoming requests, resolving them promptly, and escalating complex issues to the appropriate team members
  • Serve as a friendly, responsive point of contact for employees and HR partners across operating companies, ensuring a high standard of service and clear communication
  • Prepare recurring and ad-hoc HR reports and dashboards, turning data into clear, actionable insights for HR leadership
  • Design, build, test, and deploy AI-enabled automations using approved tools (e.g., generative AI assistants, workflow automation platforms, and scripting) to streamline HR and operational tasks

End-to-End Process Improvement Ownership

  • Take ownership of assigned HR and HRIS processes end-to-end — mapping the current state, identifying pain points and handoffs, and driving improvements through to a measurable better state
  • Apply Lean and continuous-improvement principles (e.g., eliminating waste, reducing manual steps, standardizing work) to make processes faster, more accurate, and more scalable
  • Create process maps, standard operating procedures, and documentation so improved processes are repeatable and transferable across operating companies
  • Define and track simple metrics (cycle time, error rate, volume, time saved) to quantify the impact of improvements and inform further iteration

Project Management of Small Technology Projects

  • Manage small HR technology projects from initiation through implementation — defining scope and requirements, planning tasks and timelines, and coordinating the stakeholders involved
  • Facilitate requirements gathering, configuration, testing, and go-live activities, keeping the project organized and on schedule
  • Communicate status, risks, and decisions clearly to stakeholders and escalate issues promptly when needed
  • Support user training, change management, and post-implementation follow-up to ensure adoption and a smooth handoff to ongoing operations

Why Join Steel Partners

This role offers a rare chance to grow at the leading edge of HR and applied AI within a diversified enterprise. You will gain broad exposure across multiple businesses, work directly with HR technology leadership, and see the direct, measurable impact of the automations you build. We are committed to developing early-career talent and providing the mentorship and tools you need to succeed.

  • 0–2 years of experience in an HR, operations, analytics, or technology support role (internships and co-ops count)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple requests and prioritize effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Tools, automation tools, and AI enablement tools, and comfort working with data; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Genuine interest in process improvement, automation, and AI, with an eagerness to learn new tools quickly
  • A service-oriented mindset and the discretion to handle confidential employee information appropriately

Preferred

  • Exposure to HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, UKG, ADP) or IT service management / ticketing tools
  • Hands-on experience with AI assistants, workflow automation (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier), or light scripting (e.g., Python, SQL)
