About the Role

Zekelman Industries is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Systems & Assurance Intern to join our team for Summer 2027. This on-site internship opportunity is available in Troy, MI; Killeen, TX; Chandler, AZ; or Austin, TX, and the official Zekelman internship program runs from May 24, 2027 through August 13, 2027. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the development and administration of Z Modular's emerging Enterprise Quality Management System (QMS) while contributing to quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Working alongside experienced quality professionals and cross-functional teams, you will assist with document control, process documentation, audit preparation, ISO 9001 readiness activities, KPI reporting, CAPA tracking, training records management, and quality governance initiatives. You will gain exposure to quality systems that support manufacturing, logistics, construction, commissioning, turnover, and asset management operations while developing valuable analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.


The ideal candidate is interested in pursuing a career in Quality Management Systems, Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement, Quality Engineering, or Quality Operations and is excited to help support the growth and evolution of the Quality organization. Candidates nearing graduation, recent graduates, or students interested in continuing part-time employment following the internship are strongly encouraged to apply.


What You'll Do
  • Assist with maintaining and organizing controlled documentation, procedures, work instructions, and quality records within the Quality Management System.
  • Assist with internal audit preparation activities, including gathering supporting documentation and tracking audit findings.
  • Support the administration and tracking of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Assist with collecting, analyzing, and reporting key quality performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Help maintain training records and support employee compliance documentation activities.
  • Support ISO 9001 alignment and certification-readiness initiatives through documentation reviews, data collection, and process standardization activities.
  • Assist with documenting business processes and supporting quality governance initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement projects focused on operational excellence, consistency, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, logistics, construction, commissioning, turnover, and asset management teams on quality-related initiatives.
  • Assist with preparing reports, presentations, and documentation to support Quality Systems & Assurance objectives.
  • Support data management and reporting activities using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Participate in special projects designed to strengthen quality systems and organizational performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Quality Management,  Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Operations Management, Process Improvement, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Exposure to Quality Management Systems (QMS), ISO 9001 principles, audits, documentation control, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Interest in pursuing a career within Quality Management Systems, Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or Quality Operations.
