Position Description

The Inverter Performance Engineer, reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, provides subject matter expertise on inverter selection, project application and performance for Origis Energy’s project portfolio. This position will play a vital role in enhancing the performance of inverters for both solar and energy storage plants.

The Inverter Performance Engineer is a regular, full-time position, and is eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer paid health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions, and other great benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specifications and standards: coordinate with internal engineering team to maintain our technical specifications
  • Supply Chain AVL: collaborate with internal supply chain team to establish and maintain Origis’ inverter approved vendor list
  • OEM Relationships: establish and maintain relationships with all inverter OEM sales, technical, service and warranty teams
  • Technology: assess new inverter technologies and advancements
  • Design and Engineering: work with project teams to establish inverter design standards and implementation strategies
  • Construction and Commissioning: engage with construction teams to advise on inverter commissioning and testing procedures
  • Operations and Performance: monitor fleet inverter performance to ensure optimal energy conversion and plant efficiency
  • Training: Collaborate with our training team to design and implement inverter operations training programs to upskill internal operations teams
  • Technical Support: diagnose inefficiencies and recommend solutions to enhance availability
  • Troubleshooting: work closely with service teams and vendors to diagnose and resolve inverter-related issues

 Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field
  • 5+ years (Manager) or 8+ years (Director) in solar PV operations, focusing on inverter technology and performance analysis
  • Strong understanding of inverter design and functionality, along with familiarity in PV and energy storage system design
  • Proficient in data analysis and performance monitoring tools.
  • Proactive troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, capable of presenting technical information clearly
  • Collaborative approach in a fast-paced environment
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. NABCEP, manufacturer-specific) are a plus

Location    Austin, TX (ideal); remote for right candidate

Travel        Up to 25% travel required as necessary
